Madeleine McCann. Same questions, same NON answers.

I cobbled this video together 4 and a half years ago, just a few Months after Madeleine McCann went missing in 2007.

It took me all of half-an hour to make, using schmaltzy, but evocative music and a few purloined pics from the Internet.

Saatchi & Saatchi would have loved the idea, even if they’d have scorned the final result.

Watching it again, today, for the first time in a LONG time; I was struck by one, overriding issue. That it could have been made yesterday.

For the questions that this clip POSE not only remain unanswered; more significantly, they remain not ASKED.

Because, irrespective of whatever happened to the little girl that Summer in Praia da Luz there are, still, infinitely more questions than answers relating to this case.

I have never asserted that Madeleine McCann was murdered by her parents. In fact, I have NEVER proffered ANY theory as to what might have happened to her.

All I have ever maintained is that what has been ALLEGED to have happened, by the McCanns, their never ending team of advisers, publicists, Government Minister contacts, wealthy backers and innumerable Press and Media lackeys, can NOT have happened.

At least, not in the way that they are maintaining.

I believe that Madeleine died in the apartment.

I believe the specialist dogs that indicated and located forensic materials.

I believe the FSS Forensic laboratories that initially stated that there was a DNA match derived from those materials, to Madeleine McCann, even though that department elected to CHANGE its opinion a while later, determining that the results were “inconclusive”.

I also believe that the Portuguese were brought under HUGE pressure, as they state, exerted by the British Government to enable certain courses of action to unfold and for certain conclusions to be reached.

More succinctly, I simply believe in the Portuguese. In their authorities and in their Police; in their ability to investigate crime, and most of ALL, in their PEOPLE, who have been ridiculed, lambasted, insulted and derogated to an appalling degree by a subservient Press and Media that have been directed to do so, not to mention by British MEP's.

I also believe that this is so much more than a case about a missing child and what or what didn’t happen to her. It is an inexorable but tangible web of deceit and fabrication, a determination by many people who are insistent on ensuring that a certain line of thought is pursued, maintained and propagated, whatever the cost.

I have seen nothing, thus far, to suggest that FAITH can be placed in the Scotland Yard “review”, currently taking place.

The British Police, after all, are merely foot soldiers of the British GOVERNMENT, and if the accusations that the British Government has influenced this case are TRUE, (and there IS, ample evidence of their involvement in this case), then there is no reason to suggest that the Metropolitan Police will reach a different conclusion to the one currently been enjoyed by Team McCann.

However.

The Portuguese, seemingly are conducting their OWN review. For them, surely, this is so much more than a case of a missing child also. For them, this has to be a case about truth, honesty, impartiality and integrity.

More importantly, about HONOUR and pride.

Whatever deals, decisions or agreements were initially ‘brokered’ between the two Countries, as has been suggested must be put aside and refuted.

Not least for those “Country Bumpkins” as the British Press described the residents of Praia da Luz, who spent the whole night of 3^rd May 2007 on their hands and knees, sifting the dirt for CLUES as to the whereabouts of a little girl.

Yes, those questions ARE, indeed still very much unanswered.

But for the sake of Madeleine, and for TRUTH, justice and common decency, they must now be ASKED.

McCanns issue NEW Wanted Suspect Photos based on TANNERS original Descriptions

At a PRESS conference today, Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann, issued a number of new Identikit photographs of individuals that Detectives working for the McCanns would like to interview.

Said Mr. Mithchell,

"Someone out there knows something. Someone must have seen something. I appreciate that there has been a lot of confusion surrounding Jane Tanners testimony and descriptions relating to the abductor that she saw leaving the area of my clients apartment, carrying what she and we believe to be Madeleine McCann."

Mr. Mitchell continued:

"Given that there has been some critism leveled at Mr. and Mrs.McCann, as well as Ms.Tanner, regarding what some people have scurillously and unhelpfully suggested has been a constant change in the descriptions and appearances of this individual, it has been suggested that we concentrate our areas of investigation purely based on the information as was initially provided and recorded.

An interview with the Author of "Belle Famille", Arthur Dreyfus.

Team McCann must be delighted with the ongoing saga being played out over at the LEVESON inquiry set up after the debacle of News Internationals' HACKING exploits.

Not least because, despite the best efforts of Clarence Mitchell to purport otherwise, there IS no evidence to support his previous assertions that either his or his famous Clients, (Kate & Gerry McCann), 'phones may have been hacked.

Notwithstanding, the public inquiry, admittedly set up to "look at the practises and ethics of the British Press", appears to be turning into some bizarre McCann sideshow, where Journalists, Editors and Publishers line up and get to apologise to the McCanns for their coverage of their missing daughter.

Today, (9th January 2012), it was the turn of the Picture Editor for the Sun, John Edwards. Edwards expressed "regret" for the "Media scrum" that awaited them, (Kate & Gerry), when they returned home shortly after the disappearance of their daughter in Portugal.

Whilst I agree that some of the tactics employed by the Paps were unethical and invasive, (especially concerning the McCanns OTHER children), I'm at a LOSS as to understand exactly how Leveson expected any newspaper to behave towards a couple that had FLED Portugal, ( after they were made ARGUIDOS, potentially complicit in the disappearance of their daughter), a mere 48 hours after publicly declaring that they would "NEVER leave Portugal without Madeleine".

But then, I shall forever be bemused as to why the most Media Savvy couple on the planet, represented by a plethora of Media specialists, Publicists and exorbitant Lawyers, who have amassed a veritable FORTUNE from the British Press by way of donations masquerading as "settlements", book serialisation payments, not to mention a huge public support swayed by the MILLIONS of contrived column inches by way of their Press Releases and garbled statements; would ever DARE to partake in an inquiry designed to lambast or derogate the Press!!

Not so much biting the hand that feeds but moreover taking off the whole shoulder!

How the McCanns and their entourage react to ANOTHER publication that took place on the other side of the Channel Tunnel recently remains to be seen.

'Belle Famille', or 'Beautiful Family', tells the tale of Madec Macend, a young boy with 2 other siblings and parents who are Doctors, who seemingly disappears whilst on a holiday whilst his parents are out dining. The parents become Celebrities after the child's Uncle orchestrates a Global PRESS campaign and the story is closely followed by those in "High Places". Even the POPE becomes involved when.............................................................. Hang ON?

When mention of this tale started circulating on the Internet this week I strongly suspected a hoax. A spoof. A mischievous prank. Even the name, 'Madec Macand' is unequivocally designed to evoke instant comparisons!

To satisfy myself of the books authenticity, I looked a little further.

Arthur Dreyfus, a French/Swiss National, is a young writer who studied at the renowned Institut d'études politiques de Paris, whose first novel, 'La Synthèse du camphre' an interwoven tale of young love and the author's Grandfather who was a WW2 Concentration Camp survivor, received great critical acclaim in France and is currently the subject of plans for its adaptation into Cinema.

His SECOND book, however, looks set to be an even greater sensation, where he is currently due to appear on a premiere French culture Television program to discuss it.

When I contacted him, he was quick to confirm that the book was "inspired" by the case of Madeleine McCann.

"It starts in Normandy with a French family going on holidays in Italy. The parents, who are Medical Doctors, have three children – among them Madec, a strange and discreet boy. When the family arrives in Italy, and after many strange happenings provoked by Madec, the little boy has an accident in the kitchen, while his parents are having dinner with their friends in a nearby restaurant.

When the mother comes back, she finds her son dead. Almost instinctively, she hides the body. As if it had never happened. From there, starts a long path, full of lies, pain, comedy, media, and cowardice. I wanted to write both about the relationship between (male) children and their mothers, and the relationship between reality and the media at the time of Internet".

Astonishingly, Arthur purports NOT to have done any extensive research or investigation into the McCann case:

"I just wanted to deal with what I had read and heard from the press. Once again, I am not an investigator. Neither an historian. Investigation files are not my passion. Precisely, the (French) media talked so much about Maddie that I didn’t need to carry on an extensive research to learn the basics about the case"

I press him and ask him if the book is based on any beliefs or instincts that he has.

"I have obviously no general thoughts or interpretations about the case; if so I would not have written this book. I am a novelist, not a Police Inspector, thus, I can only follow what my imagination leads me to create.

Of course, I was surprised by many details of the affair (the scale of the media campaign, the fact that the parents were suspected Months after, the very faces of the McCanns, etc.) These details just filled me with the desire to go further and from that “live novel” to invent my own one...............................My belief does not count, given the fact that I’m writing fiction. Of course, the hypothesis that the parents could be guilty is more Romanesque than the other, but this does not mean that I am in any way 100% sure about anything"

I ask him how he would respond to those who might criticise him for writing something that is critical or accusatory about a couple whose daughter is missing? He responds:

"I would say the truth: this is a fictional work"

I ask him if he is aware that the McCanns have undertaken a number of legal actions against people who have written anything which contrasts with the McCanns insistence that Madeleine was abducted, including Criminal Profiler Pat Brown and former Portuguese Police chief Goncalo Amaral, as well as Internet bloggers and Forum subscribers:-

"I am aware of that. That is also why I added a prologue making things really clear for the reader before he starts discovering the novel and its characters"

I ask him if he is concerned whether the McCanns may seek to litigate against him regarding his book:-

"“Wait and see”. Gallimard is an old and well-established publishing house in France (editor of Proust, Gide, or Aragon). Obviously, I did not received a huge amount of money to write this book. It is just an amazing story that inspired me. Never before has a vanished child so moved the world to that extent. The absence of the child took more space than her presence. I also wanted to study the vanity of modern media, and the perfect convicts it gives birth to, like paedophiles".

Finally, I ask whether the book will be translated into English:-

"I would be delighted were it to be translated into English, a language that I love, but the editorial system makes it that the demand must come from the foreign editor itself. That is, it will be translated into English when an English editor will contact Gallimard to buy the translation rights of the book. I also know that Anglo-Saxon people very seldom read French literature and that it is thus difficult for a French author to be translated into English.

I hope that the curiosity about this (British) affair and the desire of the English readers will speed up the process".

I rather feel that the McCanns hope not.

The McCann’s & the Temple of Influence - ANOTHER Christmas Tale......

'Team McCann' recruits FACEBOOK !

The Leveson inquiry has thrown up some pretty harrowing tales. The ongoing inquiry, set up to examine the culture, practices and ethics of the British press following the News International phone hacking scandal has been pretty revelationary.

It has highlighted the extraordinary lengths that some journalists have resorted to in pursuit of that valuable ‘scoop’; that front page headline or ground-breaking story.

As a journalist myself, I would have been somewhat more comfortable had the underhand methods of procuring information employed being used to expose something for the greater GOOD, e.g.: the actions of corrupt Politicians, the behaviour of privileged corporate bodies or multi-national businesses or even the outrageous practises of criminals causing widespread injustice.

Alas, the purpose of these dubious, highly illegal and frenzied activities perpetrated by the Tabloids and their servants or agents involved was for one reason and one reason only.

Scandal. Often SEX, but always salacious gossip.

Also appearing at the enquiry was the former landlord of Joanna Yeates, CHRIS JEFFERIES, who explained how, amongst other things, he had been falsely accused of being friends with a convicted paedophile and being a sexual pervert. These allegations, (along with others), were printed in a NUMBER of Tabloid journals; allegations that were described by Robert Jay QC as being "tenuous, indeed fatuous".

Despite the proceedings highlighting some pretty despicable practices amongst the Media one could be forgiven for thinking that the Leveson Inquiry is, and WILL be, nothing but a WHITEWASH at BEST, and what one Political writer described as “Muddying the waters”, at worst.

My own observation is that the fact that Lord Justice Leveson HIMSELF is known for attending Soirées and parties at the home of Mathew Freud, husband to Elizabeth Murdoch who is the daughter to erm......RUPERT Murdoch...... kind of compromises any claim to his total impartiality in the ongoing matters.

But if it’s muddy waters you want, then you couldn’t really obscure or cloud the issue any greater than by inviting KATE & GERRY MCCANN to give evidence to the inquiry.

Unlike Chris Jefferies, whose character assassination was built on no more than the fact that he appeared somewhat eccentric and looked a little odd, the MAJORITY of the Press reports derogating the McCann’s were related to actual incidents which, ostensibly, could be substantiated.

I have highlighted previously some of the ghastly published assertions relating to the McCann’s and their friends, seemingly based on pure fiction, at which Kate and Gerry are justified in expressing outrage.

However, a LOT of the coverage relating to them and to the Police investigation into their missing daughter can NOT be consigned to what Gerry described as

“front page tabloid headlines.........of stories which appear to have no factual basis, or are exaggerated or distorted”

For instance, the now infamous Specialist Victim Recovery Dogs, Eddie and Keela DID signal that they had found Cadaverine and other materials in the McCann’s apartment, on some of their personal possessions and in a vehicle.

Furthermore, the materials and samples SOURCED by these dogs WAS submitted to the Birmingham FSS Forensic Science laboratories where they do appear to have initially intimated a match to Madeleine McCann’s’ DNA.

Given that these dogs have successfully made contributions to HUNDREDS of serious crimes across many of the Constabularies in the UK, it would be somewhat churlish to suggest that they had spectacularly and, (more importantly), UNPRECEDENTEDLY got it wrong on this occasion, surely?

And of course, ultimately Kate and Gerry WERE made Arguidos by the Portuguese Police, suspected of being involved in the disappearance of their daughter. The initial report in September 2007 by Tavares de Almeida, then Chief Inspector, concluded, (amongst other things), that:

Madeleine McCann died in the Holiday apartment on 3^rd May 2007.

A staged HOAX abduction took place.

The McCann’s were involved in the concealment of the corpse of their daughter.

Quite how the McCann’s thought the Press were going to report on these matters remains unanswered, not least because no-one at the Inquiry asked them.

I DO believe that the McCann’s had good reason to be aggrieved by SOME of the reporting surrounding the case, an example being where stories suggesting that they had SOLD Madeleine were published; clearly contrived rubbish for which not one shred of evidence, to my knowledge, exists.

HOWEVER, given the Press and Media’s subsequent, slavish and sycophantic reporting over the subsequent 4 years or more is seemingly designed to mould the public consciousness into believing that Madeleine WAS actually abducted, (an act for which not only is there NOT a single shred of evidence, moreover, that information which purports to be evidence is clearly contrived), then their appearance at the Leveson Inquiry must surely rank as one of the most extreme all time examples of biting the hand that feeds.

I have commented elsewhere on the ridiculous unbending willingness of both the Press and Broadcast Media to propagate, WITHOUT QUESTION, the frequent, unsubstantiated and often bizarre Press Releases made by the McCann’s fragrant PR Mogul, Clarence Mitchell.

The many gathered hacks at the inquiry must surely have felt a sense of astonishment at some of the McCann’s criticisms for them, and must also have secretly wished that Robert Jay QC had reminded the Golden Couple of the following:-

That since 2007, the Press has published MILLIONS of column inches relating to dubious exploits, adventures and escapades undertaken by METODO 3, the originally favoured ‘Ace Detectives’ employed by the McCann’s, (funded by the vast sums of money donated or raised by the public).

Dutiful reports and stories were published about these Spanish super sleuths “closing in” on a secret farm in the drug addled and lawless Mountains of MOROCCO, where Madeleine was presumably being held captive; then off to SAUDI ARABIA in pursuit of Millionaire Arab Paedophiles who had reportedly “kidnapped” the little girl “to order”. Alas, before they can unpack their cases they’re OFF again, this time to investigate the LATEST sighting, in Medjugorje, BOSNIA.

Of course, the hapless METODO agency has since been shown to be a rather charlatan organisation, (not the ONLY instance of the McCann’s employing a fraudulent ‘Detective Agency’, but I digress).

It didn’t stop the Tabloids and the Broadcasters from subsequently covering tales from a multitudinous array of destinations as ‘Team McCann’ followed “leads” from Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, The United States and Australia.

Clarence Mitchell must surely go down as the first and only PR mogul ever to hold his very own POLICE Press Conference, complete with pleas for information, a stern looking ‘pseudo-cop’ and photo-fit descriptions. Of course, there were no actual police present. Not least, presumably, because there wasn’t a single iota of evidence to substantiate either the information, photo-fits or apparent witness testimony being offered.

It didn’t stop the Press and TV from slavishly reporting this ‘mock’ Police conference, however, giving very valuable impetus and substance to the abduction theory.

I’m pretty certain that the now beleaguered and battered Press would have liked Leveson’s QC to have reminded the McCann’s of that devotion, in their defence.

Alas, he didn’t. Nor did he appear to have time to remind the McCann’s of the innumerable OTHER page leads, reaffirming the “abduction” angle, that followed with alarming regularity:-

MORE photo-fits and descriptions of dubious characters as apparently ‘seen’ by even more dubious “witnesses”. Tales of shadowy figures, lurking in the undergrowth, hiding under stairwells, seen shinning up drain-pipes or spying through apartment windows.

Not to mention the scores of known, convicted paedophiles that the ‘McCann Detectives’ were anxious to interview on the evidential basis that they might have been within a thousand miles of Portugal on the day in question. Even those that are DEAD are not safe from exposure or suspicion, one being suspected of possibly having made a “deathbed confession”.

Yet MORE characters and witnesses, some professing knowledge and vital information and clues or evidence relating to Maddie’s “abductor” continue to be paraded and published as important “leads” or “links”.

ALL of these sightings, witnesses, leads, links, photo-fits, descriptions and pieces of information have one, unequivocal linking factor in common:-

Absolutely NONE stand up to scrutiny, evidentially; they have not the slightest tangible iota or shred of credibility to support them, or to make them bona fide, other than the fact that Clarence Mitchell or a “spokesman for the McCann’s” is quoted as saying that they are “following the development with interest”.

Of course, it begs the same old question as to WHY the Press and Media would, without question, slavishly publish and broadcast these stories without either verifying or substantiating any of them.

A question LEVESON and his QC certainly weren’t prepared to either ask, or ANSWER.

Of course, there must also have been MORE than one person at the inquiry who smiled wryly at Gerry’s statement:-

“I don’t have a problem with somebody purporting a theory, writing fiction, or making suggestions”.

Not least because the McCann’s, their supporters and contributors have spent, (or provided services amounting to), at LEAST a MILLION pounds Sterling in seeking to oppress and suppress ANYONE who dares to deviate from the abduction theory/story.

Goncalo Amaral, the one time lead detective for the Policia Judiciaria in the McCann case was brought to the brink of financial, physical and emotional RUIN by litigation brought by the McCann’s seeking to BAN his book based on the Police Investigation into Madeleine McCann. Even though that ban has since been OVERTURNED, the books seized by the McCann’s and their agents have NOT been returned to Amaral.

As I write this, SKY News have recently reported that the McCann’s are FURTHER suing Senor Amaral for “at least” £1m Sterling for “Libel and breech of their human rights”.

The News Channel describes Amaral as having:-

“made a fortune selling a book and TV documentary claiming the young British girl is dead - and wrongly claiming her parents staged a cover-up”.

They also reiterate the McCann’s assertion that he is a

“Self-obsessed, manipulative money-grabber with no morals”.

However, one has to turn from the mainstream Press and look to the INTERNET in order to really evaluate the seemingly unlimited capability of the McCann’s in attempting to control and influence the minds of the General PUBLIC when it comes to discussing their missing Daughter.

Ever since Madeleine McCann went missing in the summer of 2007 there have been those that have doubted that she was abducted. Some individuals did so for no other reason than that they took a dislike to the McCann’s or because they believed, as is so often the case in such apparent child abductions, a family member is complicit in their disappearance.

Others, however, keeping an eye on developing information coming from the Portuguese Media and other European news reports, simply doubted the McCann’s testimonies.

I have previously written about the Daily MIRROR hosting what was to become the LARGEST online discussion Forum relating to Madeleine McCann and her disappearance. It was subscribed to by MANY Thousands of people, globally.

When discussions turned to the possible meddling of the then Home Office Minister Jacqui Smith and Forum Members started to email the HOME Office about Portuguese assertions that Smith was procrastinating assisting them with their desires to interview the ‘Tapas members’, the Forum was SHUT DOWN!

Clarence Mitchell has since boasted in a meeting that he was complicit in closing it down.

I have also previously referred to the Online Store AMAZON, who sold a publication written by American Criminal Profiler Pat Brown “The Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann”.

This popular EBook was a basic review of the available evidence in the Police case combined with a theory proffered by Ms. Brown as to what might have happened to the little girl and her parent’s possible involvement in her disappearance.

Amazon, who have previously, proudly and righteously stated that:

"Amazon believes it is CENSORSHIP not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable............. we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions."

That was their response to a whole HOST of people, companies and Charitable organisations who had expressed complaints and disgust at Amazon’s insistence on selling what was effectively CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, a book entitled “The Pedophiles Guide to Love and Pleasure”.

However, it took ONE single, simple letter from the McCann’s favourite Legal Bully boys, Carter Ruck Solicitors, (“Britain’s Most FEARED firm of libel lawyers”....The Times), and “The Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann”, erm...disappeared!

Of course, since those earlier days, Forums and online discussion sites have been usurped by SOCIAL Media and other Network sites, where discussions and debates about the McCann case continue.

On FACEBOOK for instance, there are quite a lot of pages dedicated to the McCann case. Some are unquestionably sick, puerile and offensive; others are merely platforms for discussing all of the different aspects of the case, reviewing the known evidence etc, (rather like the old Mirror Forum).

A few weeks ago, bizarre things began to happen to MANY Facebook members who were subscribed to, or were part of, any page relating to discussions about Madeleine McCann. Their pages were infused with comments and ‘Statuses’, some abusive, from people whom they had never previously had any contact with or known.

More importantly, they were discovering that their OWN comments and statuses, (some of which were made in PRIVATE groups), were being published on a Facebook page known as the “Official Find Madeleine Campaign”, a page/site run on behalf of the McCann family and clearly annexed to the official Find Madeleine.com WEBSITE, their FUND-RAISING website.

Furthermore, (and to many, alarmingly), they found themselves ‘LIKING’ this official page and being publicly SHOWN to be liking it, (i.e. supporting it), even though many had never even previously VISITED the page and in fact DISAGREED with the page, given that it portrayed and supported views about the case that were very different from their own.

MANY of these people did NOT support the McCann’s in their fundraising efforts and some expressed concern that their details, comments, statuses and opinions had been made public on a Facebook page which they not only did NOT like or support, but which they did not agree with.

Some such individuals contacted the Administrators of this “Official Find Madeleine Campaign” an abridged example of which is here enclosed:

Please can you explain why posts made in an unrelated group can end up on your Facebook page?

Because Madeleine is a child, Facebook made the suggestion to us to combine unofficial pages with our official page. This is to protect Madeleine from online abuse and her image being used without her parents permission. We have NOT harvested Email addresses nor gone on to individual pages and added people. There is no way for us to actually do that. Facebook did the merge of pages at our request. If you do not want to be a part of this page, please unlike the page (see image). We don't need to hear how you don't want to be a part of a lovely group of people who do care about getting Madeleine home. A huge thank you to those that continue to support us in our search for Madeleine. ~FM Webmaster"

I remained skeptical. The idea that FACEBOOK itself would either suggest, or comply with any request to ‘amalgamate’ people from a whole plethora of groups into ANOTHER group at that groups request, especially given the diverse and wide ranging differences of opinion, was incredible. Unbelievable and imponderable.

Such an act would amount to Censorship and control-freakery on an unprecedented level. It would represent the most singular, undemocratic instance of the stifling of free speech imaginable, not to mention an astonishing display of power and influence by those seeking to exert such censorship.

And after all, FACEBOOK, (like Amazon), was no stranger to controversy. It has faced many campaigns and complaints for its insisting on allowing pages to remain, on such subjects as RAPE jokes and pages that glorify and pay tribute to MURDERERS such as Raoul Moat, along with its general attitude in permitting comments and topics of pretty much ANY nature to go unchecked.

It certainly wasn’t going to be influenced or dictated to by the McCann’s and their agents.

Right?

To satisfy myself of the ridiculousness of the “Official Find Madeleine Campaign” assertions, and to avail myself with the TRUE facts relating to this whole affair, I contacted Facebook’s PRESS Office, via ‘Blue Rubicon’ the ‘Communications Consultancy’ that acts for Facebook.

I pointed out this apparent anomaly amongst differing Madeleine McCann groups and quoted the “Official Madeleine” page claims about the ‘amalgamation’. I asked them:-

Can you confirm that Facebook DID, in fact, receive such a request from this group to "merge" members or subscribers from other such groups, and/or that this was as a result of YOUR suggestion?

That being the case, can you direct me to the relevant section of your 'USER agreement' granting permission for such 'merges' to take place without the consent of the subscriber?

If you did NOT either suggest or actually effect the merge, can you explain how this group has managed to obtain apparent support from Facebook members who never wished to be associated with the site?

Are you in a position to offer OTHER instances of such merges having taken place amongst groups?

The reply, when it came, was shocking! This, (verbatim), from a Richard Appleton:-

· We merged a number of pages that purported to be official Madeleine McCann pages, at the request of the family

· We have done this previously for charitable causes – this is not a breach of precedent

· These pages were joined into the official Madeleine McCann page

· Unofficial pages that make no claim on being an official part of the Find Madeleine campaign remain separate

· These requests were carried out via our Page Operations team

“We merged a number of pages......................................at the request of the family”

So there you have it. Facebook DID amalgamate certain groups relating to Madeleine McCann and ‘annexed’ them to the “Official Find Madeleine Campaign” at THE REQUEST OF THE McCANNS.

I immediately responded to this email, pointing out that this action had amalgamated whole groups of people who did NOT support the McCann’s in their fundraising ventures, (nor did they share the common purpose of many of those who ARE genuine members of the “official” page), turning them, unwittingly and unwillingly, from being critical of the McCann’s, into SUPPORTERS!

I also asked FACEBOOK to comment on the fact that, far from being a “Charitable Cause”, the “Find Madeleine Fund” was, actually, a Limited COMPANY.

I further requested Facebook to provide details of the “previous” occasions where they had carried out such a merge.

To date, I have received no further replies.

To summarise: At the request of the McCann’s, the largest Social Networking Website in the World summarily and without warning, notification or otherwise “amalgamated” any pages relating to Madeleine McCann or her parents to the ONE, McCann controlled “Official” site, turning ALL, irrespective of what their opinions or feelings about the case are, into a SUPPORTER of the McCann’s, their ventures and their fundraising activities.

ADDITIONALLY, such a merge exposed those who do NOT share the aims and goals of the “Official” page to the vitriolic abuse, vilification and Cyber-bullying carried out by those purportedly acting on behalf of the McCann family.

It remains to be seen just how far ‘Team McCann’ are prepared to go in their efforts in influencing further the general public, and in silencing those who do not agree with them.

They have had the Press eating out of their hand for some considerable time now, who continue to publish whatever Press Releases are fed to them.

It is NOW clear that they are prepared to disseminate their views and mantras amongst the ONLINE information services also, targeting those that sell publications about them, forums that discuss them or sites that hold an opinion about them which does not correspond with the image that they have worked so hard in cultivating.

At least ONE online blogger is facing imprisonment and HUGE financial losses for doing no more than commenting on materials that are available to read elsewhere in the Portuguese Police files.

Clearly, when Gerry McCann stated:-

“I don’t have a problem with somebody purporting a theory, writing fiction, or making suggestions”, he omitted to add:-

“as long as it’s not about me and my wife....................

Madeleine McCann and the POWER of the PRESS

I am forever being asked about why Journalists do NOT take a greater interest in the Madeleine McCann case; about why some Media ‘hotshot’ doesn't take up the mantle and pursue the whole case with a thorough tenacity in the hope of unearthing some concrete facts.

Or even reporting on those facts and areas where the truth that is known is different to the one being perpetuated in the Media.

As much as I have always lambasted the British Media for their reticence when it comes to certain aspects of the McCann case, (and shall continue to do so), I feel that I should at least offer SOME defence to those many hard-working journalists without whose professionalism and dedication, MUCH of the injustice that goes on in this world would remain hidden.

The answer is surprisingly, and bizarrely, simple.

Money.

Journalists do NOT, have not and never WILL, control what gets publicised, printed or broadcast.

EDITORS and program commissioners do.

That is, a newspaper editor will work to a certain criteria, invariably devised, or encouraged, by that journals proprietor, and will instruct his hacks to pursue certain stories and look for certain angles relating to that criteria.

Conversely, he may also buy in from a freelancer, if the story meets with that criteria or is along the lines of the story policies of the newspaper in question.

It is a universally accepted fact of life that most Media is very much driven by the CELEBRITY culture, so stories and pictures of that nature will always take precedence over anything else.

I do not do very much work for newspapers, thankfully; most of my work having been in the Television Documentary/Current Affairs genre.

However, I HAVE been commissioned in the past, (along with the company for whom I predominantly work with), to produce investigations for a number of mainly SUNDAY publications, and occasionally we have also submitted investigations to the mainstream print media where we think them appropriate or suitable for the publication at hand.

In other words, those outlets that might BUY the story.

I well remember undertaking a long term investigation, relating to the once owner of a Premier League football club, whose OTHER business interests abroad were questionable, to say the very least.

We unearthed some fascinating, relevant and pretty sensational material, well researched and well backed up, involving many potential victims, quite a few of whom were BRITISH, who stood to lose a LOT of money.

The investigative article was copy written, signed off by the papers’ Lawyers, sealed and delivered, and was due for publication that particular Sunday.

72 hours before publication, Michael Jackson had the temerity to up and die!!!; meaning that pretty much every newspaper for the subsequent 3 weeks was full of stories relating to very little else.

Although we still received payment, the investigation never DID get fully published, (although some aspects of it were reproduced by Sports columnists).

The bottom line is that, no matter HOW amazing the story; how utterly incredible, mind-blowing or "news-worthy" it may be, like every OTHER commodity in the world, it has to have a MARKET.

And if editors and commissioners do not want to PAY for the material, (or are advised NOT to buy in or publish stories of a certain nature), then it never gets to see the light of day.

And even if the market exists, and a story IS purchased/commissioned, its publication can very much be dependent on what OTHER ‘newsworthy’ events take place. At the end of the day, there are only so many column inches to fill!

It would take a VERY brave editor or commissioner to publicise anything that would derogate the McCanns at the moment. After all, they have all danced to Clarence Mitchell’s tune for some time now; some publications slavishly reproducing Clarence Mitchell's every utterance without even checking or corroborating his assertions with other sources, (as has been exemplified in the latest INDIAN "sighting" for instance).

I mean, as far as I’M concerned, it would make a great story, examining how or why it was that Clarence Mitchell stated to the British media that they, (Team McCann), were liaising with the Indian authorities and awaiting DNA results from them relating to a GIRL who has been potentially identified as Madeleine McCann in India, before then discounting the whole episode after Kate and Gerry had apparently seen a PHOTOGRAPH of the girl in question and had thus concluded that it WASN’T Madeleine after all; whilst at the same time the INDIAN authorities were completely refuting any claims that such an event occurred;- No liaising. No DNA tests. No sighting. No apprehension of individuals. No photograph. No girl!

(Of course, it would be an equally interesting story, to my mind, examining HOW exactly the McCanns could be so sure they could identify their daughter from a photograph taken 4 years after they had last seen her, but I digress).

But what would such a story prove, anyway? NOTHING; other than that Clarence Mitchell jumped on an, apparently, fabricated bandwagon in order to further the interests and exposure of his clients?

It wouldn't be the first, second or tenth time............

Additionally, to make such a story gel anyway, one would have to ask Clarence Mitchell a few rather probing questions. And anyone who has ever had to deal with Clarence knows that Clarence doesn’t DO questions. He only makes statements. And Press releases. Which, infuriatingly, are faithfully reproduced by the British Media, sans question, time and again.

But WHY oh WHY I hear you all ask!?

Because this isn’t a story, ostensibly, ABOUT a scheming, manipulative, astute, morally devoid PR mogul, or even a story about the vagaries or failings of Madeleines’ parents.

It’s about a little girl. A cute, sweet, helpless and totally innocent little girl who has been missing for several years now. It is IMPOSSIBLE, not to feel a wave of sympathy, heartfelt empathy and pity, especially anyone who has ever been a parent.

And it is THOSE people to whom the Media pander to and cater for.

It is patently WRONG, erroneously assumed, that the majority of people who know of Madeleine McCann, believe that her PARENTS were somehow complicit in her disappearance.

Online ‘Polls’ and opinion forums might suggest that most people believe there is more to the Madeleine McCann case than is covered in the newspapers, but that is a FALLACY.

It IS true that the majority of people who look BEYOND what the newspapers and TV report, beyond the drivel fed to them by Clarence, which gets duly regurgitated; and actually study the PORTUGUESE Police documents which are available online, or read OTHER intelligible writings on the case in the form of some forums, blogs and publications; THEN begin to formulate different opinions on the matter and start to consider that there may be more to the case than at first seems.

But, sadly, those people are still very much in the MINORITY.

EVERYONE knows the name Madeleine McCann, who she is and what purportedly happened to her.

VERY FEW people know the names Jane Tanner, David Payne or Rachel Oldfield, much less what parts THEY had to play in the case or what their Police statements contained.

Because unless they are given REASON to question the newspapers or televisions in front of them, they have neither the desire, need nor inclination to know.

Of course, there is also ANOTHER, very good reason why the British Media don’t wish to publish anything that remotely paints the McCanns in anything other than a perfect light.

Actually, it’s around a MILLION reasons.

Pounds Sterling!

For THAT is the sum, duly coughed up by Richard ‘Dirty’ Desmond, proprietor of the Express Newspapers, to Kate and Gerry McCann and their ‘Tapas’ friends for reproducing material that was originally published in the Portuguese Press, based on apparent leaks from the Policia Judiciaria.

It was deemed, by all accounts to have been LIBEL, although, BIZARRELY, the case never went to Court which, HAD it have done, it would have proved much less expensive for the Newspaper Group.

More importantly, the Newspapers’ Lawyers could have fallen back on the age old defence to Libel- that it can NOT be Defamation when the statements are true, or that the statements made were done so in good faith and belief that they were true; assertions that could have been validated to a certain degree with the release of the Portuguese Police files.

The Express never ACCUSED the McCanns of ANYTHING. They merely reported that the PORTUGUESE were accusing them and actually lambasting the Portuguese in the process, rather than libelling the McCanns and their friends.

For some reason best known to themselves, the McCanns NEVER saw fit to sue the Times, the Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent or The Observer, as well as all the Mirror, the Sun, The Daily Mail and other newspapers and Journals for publishing exactly the same material!

It would, for instance, be potentially FAR more remunerative and way more effective had they chosen to sue SKY News, for Martin Brunt’s famous declaration concerning the “100% DNA match to Madeleine McCann”, as apparently evaluated from samples removed from the McCann’s hire vehicle, where he clearly asserted that such results were indicative of their complicity in their daughters disappearance.

SOME newspapers actually published infinitely more sensational material, much of which is STILL available to read online NOW.

I have previously written about how Richard Desmond acquired the Newspaper Group in the first place, after making a SIZEABLE Labour Party donation, shortly before being deemed by the self same Party to be a “fit and proper person”, in accordance with Newspaper ownership regulations and requirements!

I also wrote about how a cynical old bastard might start thinking that such a Charitable gesture as to donate a Million quid to Team McCann, from a man who made a sizeable chunk of his fortune engaged in Pornography and salacious gossip/celebrity magazines, could be indicative of him returning some kind of ‘favour’ to those in VERY high places who had perhaps furthered his Empire!

Alas, I shall just say that the FACT that there are many, MANY stories STILL available to read in the ONLINE editions of virtually every print media publication is very telling; stories which go into great detail about subjects over which the McCanns have thus far spent a FORTUNE in legal fees in trying to SUPPRESS!

Sometimes, when I complain to my colleague and close friend; a man whom I regard as one of the very finest Investigative Journalists of the past 15 years, about how clearly there is SO much more to the McCann case than now gets published or mentioned, he nods approvingly and in full agreement. Alas he always says the same thing:-

That he is sure that there IS more to the case; that there is clearly a HUGE amount of suspicion over some of the McCanns behaviour and actions, along with those of their friends; that the whole case IS worthy of a sustained, elaborate and highly intensive study and investigation.

BUT.

No one wants to pay for that investigation, and as yet, no-one appears interested in wanting to pay for the publication of its findings.

He always adds that if he were a millionaire philanthropist, he’d like nothing more than to dedicate his time and resources to fathoming its secrets.

Until then, he concludes, he has 2 kids to feed so he produces material for which he knows he will receive payment!

And that is the sentiment echoed by many journalists and producers. A sentiment I saw first hand whilst suffering the ignominy of working on a Flagship documentary program for a mainstream Television broadcaster, who, at the same TIME were also producing a most fawning, sycophantic homage ‘documentary’ to the McCanns.

Of course, a FAR more pertinent question would be, who is dictating the Editorial policy of the mainstream press and broadcasters?

I have come across murmurings of D-Notices, but I don’t personally believe them.

I’m pretty sure that there is nothing that has been suppressed, or whose publishing has been negated, on the strength of one of those mysterious decrees that emanate from Downing Street, once in a while.

That's NOT to say, however, that newspaper and Media coverage of the Madeleine McCann case isn't greatly influenced by certain Mandarins; slavish devotion to Clarence Mitchell and his Press Releases, bizarre 'news' gatherings and conferences rather suggesting that is IS.

I believe, quite simply, (for whatever reason), that at an Editorial level, it has been agreed that until anything of any real consequence, that can be SUBSTANTIATED, comes to light concerning any major discrepancy or deviation from the facts of the case as asserted by the McCanns; then they will desist from producing any accusatory stories and, at the same time, concentrate on pandering to the “flowers and balloons” brigade!

After all, those newspapers that published extracts from Kate’s book, ‘Madeleine’, saw their sales figures increase! (Although in the case of the EXPRESS, I’m pretty damned sure they didn’t make a return on their £750,000 investment for the serialisation rights! Ah well. Suck it up Desmond. Those favours must be nearly all paid back now!).

It may seem difficult to believe that Newspapers would adopt such a ‘group policy’ but rest assured that it can and DOES happen.

I well recall the occasion of a very famous and very popular ‘Nice Guy’, footballer who was engaged in an extra-marital affair that was well known about in the offices of every newspaper, and would have provided many, many pages of salubrious gossip, pics and speculation for days had they have published it.

The reason they DIDN’T, is because this footballers SON was very sick with a condition that was thought at the time he might not recover from; and whilst such a heart wrenching fact would ordinarily give greater ‘human interest’ impact and impetus to the story, it was decided that publishing it would put a huge, unfair burden on the footballers WIFE, Mother to the child in question.

Even though years have since passed and the child actually survived and got better, the story has never been published.

Just one of quite a FEW true stories that would have made the front pages of EVERY newspaper for a few of days, had not the Editors collectively elected NOT to publish.

Does that mean that Editors and proprietors have a heart? Not a bit of it! At least, not when it comes to a scoop! But in the instance of the errant footballer, there could have very well been a public backlash along with the huge wave of sympathy for the betrayed wife and Mother of a very sick child that just might have spectacularly backfired in the faces of the Newspaper publishing the story.

Which brings us back to the Madeleine McCann case.

As I write this, there are families in the UK who are planning on undertaking CAMPING trips around Europe in order to try and raise funds for the 'Madeleine fund'. There are children who are doing odd jobs and fundraising, along with contributing their own pocket money on a weekly basis.

Parents and Grandparents, sponsoring ballons, lighting candles, holding fetes, fairs and jumble sales to raise money for their chosen cause; helping to "find" Madeleine.

They subscribe to forums and websites that advocate and preach divine intervention, spiuritual worship and mystical pratices.

These are decent, respectful and caring individuals who are touched and moved by the story of a missing girl and her, (apparently), heartbroken parents.

These are people who have read Kate’s book, or who have come across any one of a number of ‘Tribute’ websites or Facebook pages, dedicated to “looking for Madeliene”.

These are people who have read the heart-wrenching words of the tabloid columnists, heard the impassioned pleas of the daytime TV presenters and Breakfast News anchors. They have absolutely NO reason to believe anything other than what they read or hear.

More relevantly, irrespective of whatever ELSE is published relating to Madeleine McCann, they will purely and solely believe their chosen creed, buying into ONLY the scenarios they have adopted.

To illustrate this, a POLL, conducted in America in 2003 concluded that 70% of Americans believed that Saddam Hussein was complicit in the 9/11 attacks in New York.

SEVENTY PER-CENT!!! Actually believed that the now deposed and deceased former Iraq leader had direct involvement in the New York atrocities, according to a Poll conducted by the Washington Post!

How can that be??

Simple.

Because President Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, along with OTHER members of that administration suggested such links existed in the Months leading up to the so called; ‘War on Terror’.

And those suggestions were duly replicated in the American Press. And those citizens elected to believe them.

In fact, many took great PRIDE in believing them, and still DO, even though, of course, not only is there not a single shred of evidence to suggest that such links ever existed, but that the CIA has since confirmed that such links never DID exist.

Tony Blair, tasked with having to prepare the BRITISH to buy into the same war, chose a similar tactic.

Firstly, he presented a DOCUMENT, said to be an intelligence document detailing the Military capabilities of Saddam Hussein and the threats he posed to the West as well as countries in the Middle East.

Even when this document was shown to be a plagiarised academic THESIS from a Californian Historian, people STILL elected to believe its veracity and turned a blind eye when this 12 year old dissertation was used, VERBATIM, to justify the BRITISH Government involvement in the invasion of Iraq.

Along with the OTHER, infamous, ‘dodgy document’ AKA ‘sexed up dossier’, which cited that Hussein not only has Weapons of mass destruction, but that Iraq could launch a chemical or biological attack within 45 minutes.

Or, at least, that’s what the document stated once Blair/Campbell persuaded his old friend John Scarlett at the Joint Intelligence Committee to make some amendments. (For which Scarlett was subsequently rewarded with a Knighthood by Blair in 2007!!).

But I am digressing again!

The point I am trying to make, is that not only do people BELIEVE what they read, but they also either consciously or SUB- consciously elect to continue BELIEVING in something, even when contradictory evidence to what is being asserted exists.

It SHOULD, (citing the IRAQ War example again), have set off HUGE alarm bells in the consciousness AND consciences of the BRITISH people, once it was made PUBLIC that the so called ‘Military capabilities’ intelligence document was shown to have been fabricated.

Even MORE so when Hans Blix, the WEAPONS inspector in Iraq, immediately prior to the invasion, was stating that there didn’t appear to be any weapons to be found.

No matter. Even though there was PLENTY of evidence, SUBSTANTIATED evidence, to suggest that the Iraq war was all based on a lie, people instead elected to either ignore or dismiss it choosing to believe the headlines of the Tabloids and the bulletins from Sky and the crass, Fox news.

EVEN, after it became GLARINGLY obvious what the real purpose of the Iraq war was; when the first actions of the invading troops across the border from Kuwait was to secure the OIL pipes; when Oil production and sales from Iraq itself were co-ordinated and controlled by HALLIBURTONS, the American company once chaired by the man who STILL held substantial shares in them.

DICK CHENEY!!

If you ever needed to present as proof, the stupidity, gullibility, disinterest, naivety or indifference to the TRUTH, as exhibited by Nations and their people, then HERE it is:-

That the VICE PRESIDENT of an invading Imperialist Country marches into IRAQ and, using the COMPANY that he once LED, (and which he still has LINKS to), secures that Countries’ highly lucrative OIL production, whilst telling the world with a straight face, that we were engaged in a WAR on TERROR!. (Sentiments echoed by, of course, ‘Nu Labour’).

Hard to believe that anyone could get away with that??

Well, it is very telling, is it not, that subsequent to these obvious truths and facts, both Bush AND Blair were voted back into power for a further TERM; the people very clearly either choosing to believe the ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’ fable, or caring little either way what the REAL truth was.

And if the vast majority of the people are willing to IGNORE, or remain INDIFFERENT to, the irrefutable evidence that SHOWS that the loss of an estimated 1 to 1.5 MILLION in Iraq was all built on a LIE, then

what chance justice for a 3 year old girl who disappeared under circumstances that were very CLEARLY fabricated?

Madeleine McCann: The SUN 'Target a TROLL' NAMES in FULL!

After the conviction of Sean Duffy, an Aspergers Syndrome sufferer whose main hobbies appear to be drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and posting despicable and hurtful comments on the Facebook tribute pages of tragic individuals who had lost their lives, it coerced the SUN newspaper into action, prompting them to create their ‘TARGET a TROLL’ Campaign!

Kate and Gerry McCann, ever the intrepid publicity hunters, quickly latched on to this ‘CAMPAIGN’ and procured for themselves, (via their infamous PR Mogul-at-large, Clarence Mitchell), EXTRA COVERAGE and column inches galore about the most obvious, heartrending topic and pre-occupation which is perpetually close to their hearts; THEMSELVES.

On the back of the Duffy case comes their NEXT targeted troll; a 17 year old kid called Jack Tims who created a puerile website entitled “If I get 1 Million Likes I’ll let Maddie Go”; a childish prank that deserved to remain entirely in anonymity and obscurity, receiving the very little attention it warranted.

Now, thanks to “Britain’s Soaraway Sun” their THREE MILLION estimated DAILY circulation figures ensure that the pubescent Tims is afforded all the attention that he clearly craves!

ANOTHER ‘TROLL’ target, named in the report is David Bret. According to the Sun:-

“Blogger David Bret, 57, has also targeted the McCanns with posts wrongly accusing them of being involved in Maddie's abduction — even accusing Kate of being involved in her death”.

I have read MUCH of Mr. Brets’ ramblings, and I have never known him to assert EITHER of those accusations. Nor does the Sun offer any evidence in support of it.

However, I would imagine that David, a renowned International Biographer, will be more peeved at being referred to as a mere BLOGGER than being embroiled in this piss-poor publicity stunt for the McCanns!

HOWEVER, all things been equal, and given that the “Soaraway Sun’s” Campaign is designed to TARGET the hurtful and spiteful TROLLS who suggest that the McCanns may be complicit in the disappearance of their daughter; it is only FITTING that we should all enter into the true spirit of the campaign and “REPORT” them!

So here are a few for starters:-

“McCanns are back in frame” ~ Report detailing the apparent involvement of the McCanns in the disappearance of their daughter after leaked FSS reports suggest that DNA recovered matched Madeleine. For extra EFFECT, the report uses big, bold word type for CORPSE and BLOOD, making for a truly salacious story.

The TROLLS involved??

Step forward ANTONELLA LAZZERI and CLODAGH HARTLEY from the....erm.................SUN!

How about:-

“Blood found in McCann Car” ~ another in-depth report that points out

“Sources said analysis of samples taken from the villa produced “significant” new information that could even lead to arrests within days”.

This particular TROLL was merely referred to as the ‘Online Reporter’ for the .....................SUN!

“WHAT did you do with her body”.

“Maddie Special Report” ~ A FOUR page SPECIAL spread, on the McCann case, published in 2008, a year after Madeleine’s disappearance, and including SPECIALLY invited and edited comments from the PUBLIC, including:-

“KATE and Gerry McCann plan to write a book about their "year of hell" since Madeleine went missing. This is distasteful, sickening and outrageous. How can two suspects profit from the loss of their child? The sooner this couple are brought to book for child abandonment, the better”

And:

“WHAT about the year of hell that child has had if she was abducted and is still alive? It's always been about money with Kate and Gerry”

And:

“A MISTAKE is using salt instead of sugar. Leaving three babies alone night after night for the whole holiday, even after Madeleine told them she had cried, is wilful neglect and the sooner the McCanns admit their guilt the better for this world”

TROLLS indeed!

Of course, since those devil-may-care days of free speech, the Sun has since learned new information about the investigation which changes their whole perspective on how they report the case.

NOT information that suggests that the McCanns are INNOCENT of any of the accusations that the Sun previously published, of course; just information that reporting it can cost you a cool ONE Million pounds!! Just ask Richard Desmond over at the Express!

Madeleine McCann and Kate & Gerry's PRESS Intrusion

The Press are widely reporting that Kate and Gerry McCann are to participate in the LEVESON inquiry, possibly giving TESTIMONY, alongside several key victims of press intrusion, as the first witnesses in the judicial inquiry into the phone-hacking scandal.

Even though there is categorically NO suggestion or allegation that their 'phones were hacked.

In the interests of fairness and accuracy, it is important to question why, exactly, the McCanns are "Key victims of press intrusion", as described by the Guardian.

Clearly this can't be the SAME Kate and Gerry McCann who contacted the Media BEFORE, or at the VERY LATEST at the SAME TIME as they contacted the Police regarding their "Missing" daughter.

Nor can it surely be the same McCanns who gleefully enrolled the services of Justine McGuiness and Sheree Dodd
(“press officer responsible to act as media liaison officer for the McCann family”)

or the infamous Spin-Meister Clarence Mitchell, who has penned a MILLION column inches in publicity for his 'Clients' regularly briefing EVERY newspaper Editor,
(“Mitchell still has the key phone numbers and e-mail addresses of people in power and will continue to use them. He has attended top-level briefings at No 10 every weekday for the past two years. The McCanns.... want to get messages to the very top that they are innocent.”)

And obviously NOT the same McCanns who set up a MULTI Million Pound MEDIA driven/reliant INDUSTRY/FUND/WEBSITE, masquerading as a CHARITY, within DAYS of Madeleine going missing.

And, presumably NOT the self-same McCanns who accepted a £750,000 fee in newspaper serialisation rights for Kate's book, an "honest and truthful account" entitled 'Madeleine'.

Along with the OTHER graciously accepted fees for such "intrusive" appearances on OPRAH and other television programs.

And, categorically NOT, surely, the same Kate McCann who somehow managed to 'intrude' onto EVERY front page of the Press when the parents of Claudia Lawrence, a missing 35 year old British woman, who was last seen in March of 2009, held a special service, a "candle-lit vigil" for THEIR daughter; whose picture, (where it appeared at ALL), was a mere FRACTION of the size of the lady of the moment.

Whether Lord Justice Leveson gets round to pointing out these 'anomalies' to the Golden Couple at the hearing remains to be seen.

Madeleine McCann - FACT, FICTION & FALLACY

Gerry McCann belongs to a secret Masonic ‘Knights Templar’ Order whose other ‘Illuminati’ include Gordon Brown.

Kate McCann was a promiscuous sex-aholic and binge drinker, having entertained an inumerable number of her University colleagues.

The ‘Tapas 7’ frequently holidayed together in low-key “working class” resorts, sometimes with the McCann’s, where they engaged in group, open sexual relations together.

Madeleine McCann was a ‘Clone’ or a genetic experiment.

Madeleine never actually existed at all.

Madeleine was abducted by Aliens.

OK, I made the last one up, but the other statements have, (and still are), circulating in some form or another in the bowels of internet chat rooms, discussion forums and blogging sites.

Despite there having been some interesting observations made which could, ostensibly, be indicative of some of these comments having a modicum of truth to them, (excepting the Aliens bit, of course), in the absence of any REAL, corroborating evidence, we simply have to assign them to the realms of FICTION.

However, there has been so much written and reported about the Madeleine McCann case in four years that it is undoubtedly very difficult, if not impossible, for anyone seeking to make up their OWN mind regarding what might have happened to the little girl, to actually DO so.

The opinions of MOST people in this country ARE influenced by what they read in the newspapers, which is pretty much how and WHY Rupert Murdoch came to be so courted and pandered to by virtually EVERY influential leading Politician since Thatcher; not just here in the UK but GLOBALLY.

Many will have undoubtedly been influenced by their reading of the recent publication of Kate McCann’s book, ‘Madeleine’, a rather touching if not wholly accurate account of the case.

It is also clear that many people, parent’s and grandparent’s themselves, cannot and WILL not look beyond the fact there is a small child missing. They are happy to subscribe to the notion that Madeleine MUST have been abducted by a paedophile, without questioning any aspect of what is currently asserted in the Press or indeed what is asserted by the McCann’s themselves.

They do not question because it is very easy and natural to form an instant empathy with people who have purportedly lost a child to such tragic circumstances. Additionally, we are all too well aware of the reality of evil people in this world who DO, indeed, prey on children, which induces ANOTHER natural human response of:

“God, this could have been MY child/us” and also “thank God this isn’t happening to my child/us”.

People spend their lives accepting and being influenced by what they are told. Indeed, they are frequently SHAPED by the events that they read about.

Which is FINE, as long as the events that shape them have been subjected to more scrutiny and validation than that afforded by the mainstream Media, or by books written by the protagonists themselves.

Because unless people are given reasons to do otherwise, they will simply carry on their daily lives without questioning the information printed in front of them or that which is being spoken on the TV or Radio.

Which rather leads me to ANOTHER statement, which I assert to be, NOT fiction, but rather FACT.

That the Madeleine McCann case is so much MORE than a matter of a missing child and what might have happened to her; that it is clearly part of an, as yet, unfathomed SECRET involving an innumerable number of powerful, wealthy and influential individuals, some of whom extend to the very fabric of our Society, including the British Government itself.

A secret? More internet lunacy? Conspiracy Theory?

Well, permit me to cite a few MORE facts in support of this assertion.

Anyone who has ever been unfortunate enough to suffer a tragedy or a serious problem whilst being abroad in a foreign Country is rightly afforded some assistance from their respective Embassy and its Ambassadors.

Kerry Needham, for example, whose son BEN went missing in Kos in 1991, effectively got little more than a cup of tea and some sympathetic words from the British Consulate.

She has been on record as stating that although she was appointed a wonderful Liaison Officer from South Yorkshire Police, she has effectively spent the past twenty years, fighting, ALONE, to keep her son’s disappearance in the public eye.

Ironically, it is only recently, in light of developments in the McCann case, that she has received ANY worthwhile attention or response to her letters and pleas for assistance at all.

The Needham family are NOT unique.

In fact, every OTHER family who has ever had the misfortune and heartbreak of having their child kidnapped abroad, or who has suffered any OTHER kind of tragedy has come to realise the very same thing;- that, ultimately, when struck by disaster outside of one’s own Country, one has only limited resources and assistance.

Every other family.

Except the McCanns.

Kate and Gerry McCann got rather more than tea and sympathy. Since the disappearance of their daughter in May, 2007, they have received, effectively, the assistance and attentions of, seemingly, the entire British Government, including the personal administrations of not one, NOR two; but THREE British Prime Ministers, no less!

Tony Blair, just weeks before his stepping down, ensured that the McCanns had a whole TEAM of diplomats to assist them in the early days, and bizarrely even dispatched SHEREE DODD, described by the ‘TIMES’ as a

“long-serving senior spokeswoman for the Government”.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced that she was being deployed as

“press officer responsible to act as media liaison officer for the McCann family”.

Why the family of a missing child NEED a Media & Press Liaison officer was never properly explained.

Newspaper reports at the time show communications, advice and assistance being provided by then Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett and subsequently by HER replacement David Miliband.

Even from the EARLY stages of this case, before being appointed in his full time role as the McCanns mouthpiece and agent provocateur in September 2007, the fragrant, ubiquitous and ridiculously contrived CLARENCE MITCHELL was involved.

Mitchell’s previous specialty, (for the entirely uninitiated in this case), was spying on, fabricating and shaping public opinion on anything and everything for the Government’s ‘Media Monitoring Unit’.

This unit, encompassed by the Governments Central Office of Information, helps to:

“drive best practice and cost effectiveness in the way citizens are informed, engaged and influenced about issues that affect their lives “.

About as Orwellian as it gets, in my book.

I accept that the disappearance of Madeleine McCann was fairly unique in context, and obviously a tragic event, but WHAT could possibly be so important about the McCanns and their predicament that could warrant them receiving this level of ‘assistance’?

But these unprecedented lines of support and help pale into complete insignificance when one considers the involvement, influence and direct INTERFERENCE, from the then, Chancellor of the Exchequer and soon to be Prime Minister , fellow Glaswegian Gordon Brown.

By their own admission, Gordon Brown maintained regular contact via personal cell phone with the McCanns. (Does he have the mobile numbers of all British subjects who come unstuck whilst abroad?)

Clarence Mitchell himself has been keen to brag in the past about how HE, along with the coercion of Gordon Brown and others, was able to secure a meeting with the POPE, who subsequently administered his personal blessing to the McCanns and to a picture of their missing daughter.

It was the UK Government who arranged for the McCanns to meet and liaise with a number of European and other word-wide Political leaders to discuss the setting up of an American version of 'Amber Alert'; a child abduction alert system.

It is entirely possible, of course that these incidents were merely born out of an association and presumably FREINDSHIP between Gerry McCann and Gordon’s brother, ANDREW Brown, with whom Gerry worked at COMARE.

COMARE, (Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation) is a British Government QUANGO, basically set up to debunk claims by campaigners that certain areas around the vicinity of Power Stations can induce childhood CANCERS.

Gordon Brown is, or at least WAS, a huge supporter and advocate of further Power Station development in the UK and COMARE, (of which his BROTHER Andrew is a Director), was an essential weapon for Brown in allaying any ‘Nuclear fears’ amongst the public.

Essentially, along with others, COMARE was “advised” by Gerry McCann.

On the basis of that, such a show of support by Brown could be deemed relatively innocuous, nothing more than the actions of a family friend, however highly placed.

HOWEVER, a much MORE and somewhat disturbing involvement by the then Prime Minister –in- waiting was yet to take place.......

Ostensibly, the ONLY evidence that Madeleine McCann was abducted comes from JANE TANNER.

She insists that she saw a man carrying a small child whom she believes was MADELEINE, around 40 minutes before Kate McCann actually declared the girl was missing.

Those more conversant with this case will know that Tanner’s description of this ‘abductor’ changed dramatically over the subsequent Month’s and indeed years, since Madeleine’s disappearance.

His height, size, shape, hairstyle, clothes, manner, and on at least ONE occasion, even SEX, have all been changed or modified, often coinciding with, (and dependent ON), the description being given out by ‘Team McCann’ of the person that they and their ‘investigators’ were eager to locate in any given Month.

Additionally, not only the ‘abductor’ but his PREY was also subjected to a number of changes, starting out as a mere ‘bundle’, as in a BLANKET, before metamorphosing into a little GIRL with pink pyjamas just like Madeleine!

More saliently, particularly for the POLICE investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance, the Policia Judiciaria afforded NO significance to Tanner’s sighting for THREE reasons.

ONE, because it would have been way too dark to afford any credibility to the description Tanner provided;

TWO, despite insisting that she DID see an abductor, 40 minutes later when Kate McCann appeared at the Tapas bar, screaming that Madeleine was, indeed MISSING, Jane sprung into action and erm......not only DID nothing but SAID NOTHING!!

And THIRDLY, the Portuguese Police were equally sceptical when it transpired that at precisely the same time Tanner is alleged to have SEEN this abductor, two other witnesses who were effectively in exactly the same location saw neither this man NOR Tanner herself! One of these witnesses being Gerry McCann!

It doesn’t need a forensic mind to deduce the obvious great flaws in Tanner’s testimony.

None-the-less, after a private audience with Gordon Brown where the McCann’s had sought his assistance in early JUNE, the BRITISH and Portuguese press widely reported that Brown had INTERVENED in the case and that he had persuaded the Portuguese Authorities to permit the McCann’s to APPEAL for information relating to this ‘abductor’.

After the McCanns were made arguidos in September, SUSPECTS in the disappearance of their daughter, the TIMES reported that;
“Ministerial Contact was severed with the McCanns because of the sensitive nature of their Legal status”

HOWEVER, it was apparent that the Government, rather than distancing itself from the McCanns, formed CLOSER relations than ever.

Brown dispatched the ever-ready Clarence Mitchell, once again, who formally resigned his Media Monitoring post at the Cabinet to take up the FULL time role of McCanns Media advisor, a role he had initially adopted whist seconded to the Foreign Office in the weeks after Madeleine first went missing.

The TIMES again:-
“Mitchell still has the key phone numbers and e-mail addresses of people in power and will continue to use them. He has attended top-level briefings at No 10 every weekday for the past two years. The McCanns do not expect help or influence to be exerted on their behalf but want to get messages to the very top that they are innocent.”

Quite.

Clearly those messages got through to someone because at the same time as the Portuguese Police were reported to be waiting at the Airport to fly to the UK to interrogate the McCanns and the ‘Tapas 9’, possibly even forcing them to be returned to Portugal for further “grilling”, as one paper put it; Judge Pedro Anjos Frias suddenly decided there wasn’t quite enough evidence to enforce such a return after all, and the eager PJ never got on the plane.

This huge and sudden change of heart and mind by the Portuguese appears to coincide with, firstly telephone conversations between Gordon Brown and his Portuguese counterpart, Jose Socrates, followed up by a personal meeting between the two a few weeks later in LISBON at an EU Summit where it was widely reported that Brown and Socrates “discussed” the case.

Exactly WHAT was discussed and decided upon has never been fully revealed.

What IS known, however, is that the Portuguese Police never made it to the UK.(At least not to question the McCanns and the Tapas 7 who were STILL official suspects in the case).

Instead, it was decided that this further questioning could be conducted by the BRITISH Police, in the form of what came to be infamously known as the ‘Rogatory Letters’, sent to the UK, where they would ask the questions on behalf of the Portuguese Police.

However, as much as the Portuguese were aghast and dismayed at this decision to refuse them to conduct their interrogations and investigations in the UK, citing “Political Interference” and “Meddling” from the British Government, things were about to get a whole lot worse.

For an inordinately LONG period of time after the Portuguese submitted the Rogatory Letters, an inexplicable period of inactivity occurred.

Firstly, the Home Office denied having received the letters. Then the letters WERE confirmed as having been received but were duly returned because of some ‘Red Tape’ issue. As the President of EUROJUST explained:-

“A magistrate from the Home Office decided that the legal procedures for the sending of the document had not been fulfilled and informed the colleague at Eurojust. After everything was duly analysed, we decided to request Portugal to make the letter again and to send it through official channels."

The rumblings in the Portuguese media complaining about British Government involvement intensified, and the matter was full addressed in the UK Press. The TELEGRAPH:-

“Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has been accused of bringing Madeleine McCann investigation to a stalemate”.

It went on:-

“Police in Portugal said the nine-month case has stalled because the Home Office has still not approved their request to re interview the seven friends who dined with Kate and Gerry McCann the night their daughter went missing”.

Bizarrely, as reported by the paper:-

“A Home Office spokesman refused to confirm if it had received the letters of appeal from the Portuguese police”.

FINALLY, however, the letters WERE finally received, and the requests duly carried out by Leicestershire Police.

It is obvious from the results of these ‘interrogations’, which are freely available to scrutinise elsewhere online, that the British police, whilst essentially sticking to the requirements being asked of them, did NOT pursue the lines of enquiry with the tenacity that the Portuguese Police would have, nor did they effectively treat the subjects, (Tapas members), as the SUSPECTS that they were.

SUBSEQUENT to these Rogatory Letters being conducted by Leicestershire Police, matters become even MORE muddled and unclear.

It is difficult to pin down the precise sequence of events that occurred, but by July 2008, the Portuguese authorities REMOVED the Arguido status placed upon the McCanns, (and Robert Murat, the OTHER Arguido), and effectively ‘shelved’ the inquiry.

As the TIMES reported at the time:-

“According to reports yesterday, one key error that led to the McCanns being declared suspects was made by Britain’s own Forensic Science Service.

The report, apparently from the Portuguese authorities and which was leaked to the London Evening Standard newspaper, states that the Policia Judiciaria, Portugal’s criminal investigation department, was told that DNA evidence found in the couple’s hire car, on the window sill of their holiday apartment and in the car park of the apartment complex, belonged to Madeleine.

The document claims that it was given categorically as her DNA and as a result the McCanns were questioned and later made suspects. But, one month later, the forensic service wrote another report saying that it could not be sure that those findings were correct”.

This matter has NEVER been fully explained, to my mind.

To this day, many reports from the time, including SKY News’s Martin Brunt, still exist, stating that a MATCH to Madeleine McCanns DNA was ascertained, relating to material unearthed by the specialist dogs.

The reports vary in the accuracy of the match, SKY News reporting a 100% Match, as did reports in the TELEGRAPH, Times and other newspapers. Other journals talk about the significant numbers of relevent‘Markers’ to Madeleine’s genetic profile.

What IS unequivocal is that the Birmingham Forensic Science Services, reputed to be the BEST in the world, the “'vanguard of forensic science technology that has an unrivalled reputation for the integrity, impartiality and accuracy of its findings”; DID, in its initial reports and statements made to the Portuguese, state that a MATCH to Madeleine McCann’s DNA profile HAD been made.

For reasons best known to itself, and for which it has NEVER fully explained, a Month subsequent to its initial report, and AFTER the McCanns had returned back to the UK, the FSS released a NEW statement, asserting that the tests were inconclusive, after all.

Or, as the TIMES put it, they could now not be sure that their initial findings were correct.

In the research that I have subsequently conducted, I have been unable to unearth ANOTHER single example amongst the innumerable cases that they have handled where the Forensic Science Services changed their mind. Not one.

Presumably, now that this “Vanguard of forensic science technology” is CLOSING, being shut down by its UK Government sponsors/owners, it shall take its secrets with them.

Coincidentally, at around the same time the results had been initially submitted to the Portuguese, Low Copy Number, (LCN), DNA analysis was being QUESTIONED vehemently in the Court reviewing the OMAGH case, as a result of which, a CPS REVIEW was ordered.

The Sunday Times:-

“The Crown Prosecution Service announced the review after Mr Justice Weir attacked the low-copy, or low-template, method of gathering DNA evidence as potentially unreliable and lacking validity”.

I prefer to think that THIS is potentially what influenced the FSS to review their initial suggestions about matches to Madeleine’s profile, rather than some other, more sinister involvement, or "interference", as has been suggested in Portugal.

It is also worth noting that the LCN DNA testing technique was SUSPENDED within the UK, pending the CPS review.

This review was completed and the suspension lifted on January 14, 2008 with the CPS stating that it had

“not seen anything to suggest that any current problems exist with LCN".

Notwithstanding, as was widely reported in the BRITISH Media, the McCanns were “OFFICIALLY CLEARED” by the Portuguese Authorities in July 2008, “of any involvement in the disappearance of their daughter”.

Which brings us neatly to the FALLACY part of my ramblings!

The FINAL report by the Portuguese Attorney General, although lifting the ARGUIDO status of the McCanns, does NOT, to my mind clear them at all. It states:

“despite all that has been done and in spite of all our efforts and lines of enquiry, it has not been possible to obtain a solid and objective conclusion about what really happened that night, nor about the present location of Madeleine”.

The report goes on to mention and rather dispel ANOTHER huge Fallacy in the McCann case.

Since the early hours of Madeleine’s disappearance, right up to the publication of Kate’s book, the McCanns and their representatives have perpetuated a myth whereby the Portuguese effectively bungled and botched the whole investigation, affording very little, if ANY assistance to the McCanns, and even failing to conduct the most basic of searches or enquiries.

However, in the report, the one that the McCanns insist is ACCURATE, it:-

illustrates and DEMONSTRATES the HUGE and hardworking efforts made by the Authorities and the Portuguese people to try and find Madeleine, including securing the apartment, roadblocks, house to house searches and an account of ALL the intelligence and sightings that passed through their offices.

As I have published elsewhere, this “accurate” final report, the one referred to by Gerry McCann when he asserts that there is “NO EVIDENCE” to suggest that they were involved in the disappearance of Madeleine; also states VERY clearly:-

that there were “inconsistencies” surrounding the evidence and testimonies of the McCanns and their friends, and that these inconsistencies could have been easily highlighted and addressed were it not for the “un-cooperation from several, relevant witnesses”.

It goes on to say that the Portuguese strove for a re-construction or “reconstitution” of KEY events, but that they could not as “some of the key members of the McCann holiday group” were unwilling to return to do so.

The report goes on to specify that there were CLEAR inconsistencies and irregularities with some of the statements provided by the McCanns and their friends, thus the further need for a reconstruction, particularly in relation to Jane Tanners’ statements relating to her alleged sighting of a “supposed abductor”, specifically noting that at the precise same time, Gerry McCann and TV Producer Jeremy Wilkins were in the very same “narrow confines of space”, yet neither man saw either Tanner OR the alleged abductor.

The report ALSO suggests that a reconstruction was necessary to pinpoint HOW and WHEN an abductor could possibly have struck, given the regularity and frequency of the checks being made on the children, as asserted by the McCann’s and their friends. The report CLEARLY doubts not only this testimony, but also the ability of ANY abductor to enter and exit the apartment as proposed by the McCanns, through the small window of the apartment in the manner being suggested, whilst carrying a child.

More importantly, it suggests that the events as suggested by the McCanns and their friends contained inconsistencies and irregularities relating to the WHOLE period spanning from around 5.30pm on the evening in question,(“the last time at which Madeleine and her siblings were seen by anyone other than her parents”), up until around 10pm when Madeleine was reported missing.

Additionally, the report also takes issue with the fact that, as was widely reported at the time, the McCanns and their ‘Tapas’ friends had a secret meeting in a Leicestershire Hotel in October 2007. As a result of which, a more ‘corroborating’ series of statements were issued, relating to the sequence of events of the night of May 3^rd. OR, as the Portuguese put it:

“A typed report produced by the McCann holiday group after a detailed joint meeting between them all. This report of theirs deals with their recollections about the events of the evening of 3^rd May”.

So you will have to forgive me if I fail to see exactly WHERE, in this most definitive of reports, the McCanns are cleared.

Of course, if I wanted to be a bit “scurrilous and unhelpful”, I could also add that this report make no mention of the fact that it denounces or retracts a PREVIOUS, initial report made by Tavares de Almeida, then Chief Inspector in September 2007. THAT report concluded, amongst other things

that:

Madeleine McCann died in the Holiday apartment on 3^rd May 2007.

A staged HOAX abduction took place.

The McCanns were involved in the concealment of the corpse of their daughter.

Now, that WOULD be unhelpful.

And so we come to the present day. David Cameron joins the list of supremely powerful allies to the McCanns by announcing that the Metroploitan Police are to “review” the case.

Apparently, he was moved after receiving a ‘heartfelt’ letter from Kate and Gerry.

Gerry thoughtfully and tactfully pointed out in a later TV interview that the Prime Minister

“knows what it’s like to lose a child”

referring to the death of Cameron’s son, Ivan. Nice touch, that, Gerry.

It still remains to be seen what form, (if ANY), this review will take, given that this case is still the legal domain of the Portuguese.

Matters are even more clouded, now that the man in charge of the MET review, Sir Paul Stephenson, has resigned after allegations of corruption and bribery relating to senior members of the Metropolitan police force.

Those “bungling, boozy, inept Porto plod” WILL be amused.

“FFS Spudgun, shut the fuck up! You’re like a stuck record, going on and on and on about the same thing!”

That message from one of my frequent 'fans'.

And they’re right. I AM like a stuck record. And I am so stuck in this groove.

And as I am forever repeating, I care little for the McCanns, their culpability or lack of it. I care not one iota about their alleged neglect, their parenting skills, what they might have done or what they didn’t do; what their sexual peccadilloes are, how much they drunk, whether they’re narcissistic or arrogant or both.

What I DO care about are the obvious and seemingly limitless network of high profile supporters:- politicians, businessman, media moguls, tycoons, magnates, celebrities, TV pundits, newspaper columnists and chat show presenters who all queue up to peddle Team McCanns official stance;-

That Madeleine McCann was abducted by a paedophile and that the Portuguese were complicit in allowing him to escape by accusing her parents instead.

A stance for which there not only exists not ONE, single, reasonable, feasible, logical or rational scrap of evidence; but for which, rather, there exists a whole PLETHORA of circumstantial evidence to suggest an alternative scenario; one which all of the above are either ignorant of, or choose to ignore.

And if they ARE, electing to ignore that evidence, then one has to ask why?

Or, perhaps, that’s just the problem. The evidence that exists IS, purely circumstantial. Or at least, the evidence that we know about.

For who knows what lies in those boxes of evidence, gathering dust somewhere in a Lisbon Court storeroom?

Documents, files, dossiers and materials that never got released along with the thousands of pages that did.

Materials still retained by the Portuguese for if, and when, they elect to re-open the case.

Materials that never even got released into the hands of the McCanns, despite their best, ardent and sustained efforts to secure them.

I wonder if Kate sometimes think about what is in those boxes. Late at night, when she is having one of those sleepless, restless nights that she writes about.

For my sins, I am frequently perturbed by an image.

An image that keeps me reading, researching and writing about a case that I often fear may forever go unresolved.

It is that of a little girl curled up and lifeless, alone and abandoned; clinging to the only thing from which she could derive any comfort; a soft toy called ‘Cuddle Cat’, whilst laying in a spot behind the sofa in Apartment '5a' where, according to a specialist Victim Recovery Dog called Eddie, once lay the body of Madeleine McCann.

Who would want to serve in a Force whose top senior ranks have to resign in ignominy because of allegations of corruption, whose actions and behaviour reflect on EVERY officer?

Who would want to patrol our streets, trying to protect them from a disaffected youth whose ‘feral’ ways terrorise ordinary decent people; mere children who perpetuate their delinquency because they CAN, free from fear of consequence, prosecution or retribution?

Who would want to appease and liaise with the “yoof” workers, “Community leaders” and social commentators; the criminals APOLOGISTS who assert that it is all the fault of the Government, the middle classes, Council policies and the police themselves, thus turning the protagonists into VICTIMS?

Who would want to have to stop and search those whose contemporaries and peers carry guns and knives, who kill and maim each other with alarming regularity, yet who cite such searches as the cause of their “anger” and violence?

Who would want to protect communities who bay for their blood when they over react and over exert in the course of their duties, yet bay for their blood when they fail to employ similar ‘strong arm’ tactics whilst defending THEM?

Who would want to police a people who profess to be disadvantaged and underprivileged, yet who display all the trappings of consumerism and material wealth?

Who would want to look in the eyes of the old woman whose business and home has been destroyed or stolen on a whim; a livelihood and property achieved through a lifetime of effort and hard work, crushed or taken by those who believe they have a RIGHT to instant materialism?

Who would want to look in the eyes of the old man who had served his King and Country in the belief that he was fighting for the freedoms of people who would never have to watch their streets burn again?

Madeleine McCann and the Kingdom of Clarence

Given that I am currently enjoying something of a reputation as having a big, fat, scurrilous mouth, (possibly true), and that I never know when to keep it closed, (ALSO possibly true); I though I would confound my detractors and keep it short and sweet!

Am I alone in thinking how utterly preposterous and somewhat disturbing it is, that at LEAST 25 Media outlets, Newspapers and BROADCASTERS, are currently reporting about a little girl having been found in INDIA that resembles Madeleine McCann and that the McCanns are awaiting the results of the DNA test; whilst at the same time, the police and authorities in the LEH province of India, the scene of this furore, are all utterly bemused and baffled, asking questions as to what everyone is going on about as they have no KNOWLEDGE of ANY girl having been found OR of any DNA tests!!!

Clarence Mitchell has made about 4 statements concerning this latest "sighting", ALL of which are nonsensical and actually CONTRADICT each other.

Of course, there are MANY people who DO follow this case with open hearts, hoping upon all hope that it IS the little girl, and they will continue to pray and hope for Madeleine's safe return.

They will also lambast and vilify the PRESS and Media who report such "sightings" and developments for raising false hope.

Wheras, if they examined such 'reports' and continued widespread coverage with a little more scrutiny and impartiality, they would arrive at the same, logical conclusion.

That the people with whom they hold in so much reverence, adulation and close affection, (Team McCann), are the ones actualy responsible for the stream of fabricated stories, hoax's and fake sightings; that the British PRESS and their respective editors are their servile minions;

And that Clarence Mitchell is their Master!

Madeleine McCann- AMAZON changes its mind on CENSORSHIP

Pat Brown is a renowned and well known American Criminal profiler who, amongst other tasks, offers pro bono profiling and training for Law enforcement agencies.

Amongst her many publications, a few weeks back, she launched 'The Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann'.

This was, effectively, an accurate analysis of all the evidence available in the case, freely available within the public domain, combined with her own theories regarding what might have happened to Madeleine, based on her professional experience and expertise.

The publication, available in KINDLE format and available on AMAZON, was a great success.

Up until yesterday.

For that is when Amazon removed the publication from sale from its websites.

There is NO official explanation, thus far, from Amazon regarding its actions. In response to emails sent by customers, querying the publications removal, it states:-

“Occasionally books are removed from the Kindle Store for various reasons. We don't have any details about why this particular book may have been removed. Thank you for your interest in Kindle.”

However, in an interview on an American online radio broadcast with Levi Page, Pat states that she was informed by Amazon that they had received a-

“notice of defamation from Carter-Ruck solicitors claiming that the book contains defamatory statements regarding their clients Kate and Gerry McCann”

In an attempt to clarify this rather bizarre turn of events I spoke to Amazon’s Press Office, (UK), where a nice lady called Laura Bonny promised that she would look into the matter, subject to receipt of an official Media e-mail request.

I forwarded, the following-

"I am seeking to ascertain the reasons for the cessation of the selling of the 'Kindle' Book, by Pat Brown, ‘The Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann’.

My understanding is that this publication was on sale on all Amazon outlets for several weeks. Can you please confirm for me whether its removal from sale from your sites was as the result of LEGAL actions undertaken and are you in a position to confirm for me who undertook such actions?

Can you also confirm for me whether or not the publication in question has been the subject of any complaints relating to its title or its contents?

Can you confirm whether Amazon has been contacted by either Kate or Gerry McCann, or by individuals or organisations acting on their behalf in relation to the publication or its contents?"

30 hours later, with no response, I spoke with their Press Office again, this time another nice young lady called Sophie who explained that she WAS aware of the furore surrounding the title, but that they, (Amazon UK), were awaiting notification and directions from their AMERICAN Head Office, regarding statements, but that she assured me she WOULD respond to my questions in time.

Of course, irrespective of what Amazon says or does NOT say regarding its removal of a title on the instructions of the McCanns or their representatives, WITHOUT the benefit of any actual LEGAL hearing or proven ACTION, I shall be reminding them of ANOTHER, rather more vociferous statement issued by Amazon in recent times:-

This astonishing stance was issued in defence of Amazon’s INSISTENCE on allowing the sale on its websites of a rather unpleasant publication titled ‘The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure’, subtitled ‘A Child-Lover's Code of Conduct’.

That publication WAS eventually removed after a HUGE storm of protest and condemnation, much of it from children’s charities.

It remains to be seen whether Pat Brown is successful in re-instating her publication, or whether she joins the INCREASINGLY long list of people silenced/sued/threatened/sanctioned as a result of the McCanns and their overwhelmingly exorbitant Lawyers, whose never ending fees must SURELY be greater than the Millions amassed through public donations and other fund-raising ventures.

As for AMAZON itself, however, (the “multinational electronic commerce company”), it poses a rather more disturbing predicament.

One where it is apparently happy to sell material CLEARLY and unequivocally relating to the sexual abuse of children, and the purported PLEASURE that such an activity entails, whilst at the same time censoring a publication that LEGITIMATELY calls into question the ‘OFFICIAL’ version of events relating to the disappearance of a 3 year old girl, as alleged and insisted upon by Kate and Gerry McCann, their never ending entourage of supporters, backers, PR Moguls and Newspaper editors, and their powerful lawyers.

As Abbott Joseph Liebling once said:-

Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one.

The McCanns Stength & Determination

“The strength and determination you have shown throughout is remarkable."

These were the words that the Prime Minister, David “Call me Dave” Cameron reserved for Kate and Gerry McCann after they had apparently sent him a LETTER, imploring his personal intervention in ordering a review of the case involving their missing daughter.

Those words could equally have been applicable to any number of people who make up what has come to be dis-affectionately known as 'Team McCann', whose support and dedication appear limitless.

Certainly, the “strength and determination” of Brian Kennedy, whose elaborate intervention and finances have perpetuated Team McCanns efforts is “remarkable” indeed. Not only has the Multi-Millionaire financed MANY of the McCann exploits over the past few years, (and indeed, continues to DO so); but he has frequently and quite systematically taken it upon himself to interfere in many witnesses to the Madeleine McCann case, including Robert Murat, at a time when he was an official Arguido, to a degree where a number of the witnesses concerned expressed that they were effectively being harassed.

Remarkable determination also, in consistently donating hundreds and hundreds of THOUSANDS of Pounds to an assortment of dubious “Detective Agencies”, including the infamous Metodo 3 whose operatives were flown all over the world in pursuing fake and fabricated sightings and tales of ‘Kidnap to order’ gangs in the mountain ranges of Morocco, to ‘paedophile rings’ in Saudi Arabia.

At least Kevin Halligen, awaiting trial for a $2 Million Dollar fraud in the US, elected NOT to bow down to the Dictats of Kennedy, ignoring his convoluted instructions to fabricate and create, preferring to merely drink away the estimated £500,000 PLUS that HE pocketed.

“Remarkable strength and determination” are what one would find etched through the very core of spinner extraordinaire Clarence Mitchell, like the shaky lettering in Seaside rock candy, were one to break him in two!

Here is a man who has made a most successful career moulding and controlling the populations’ thoughts and notions, through his guise at the “Media Monitoring Unit”; a man so malleable and changeable, so utterly devoid of any belief, principle of moral that he has been a most effective Electioneer for both the Labour Party AND THE CONSERVATIVES!!

Whatever the message, Clarence is your man to spread it. (As long as the price is right).

But the “Strength and Determination” prize for the Decade must surely be awarded to that irascible old Mogul, Rupert Murdoch. For it merely only needed a single page in his most popular UK organ, the ‘Sun’, highlighting the ‘Letter’ from the McCanns imploring the Prime Minister for help, (Gerry McCann thoughtfully commenting that, seeing as Cameron had suffered anguish over the death of his six-year-old son Ivan in 2009,: ‘He will understand what we’ve gone through.”),

then the mighty forces of the British Government, its Metropolitan Police and its Home Office were mobilised, promising to “review” the whole evidence in the case.

Or, as “Britain’s Soaraway ‘SUN’”puts it:

“Yard will Hunt Missing Clues”.

If the ‘YARD’ proves anywhere near as strong and determined, they shouldn’t have too far to look for them. Then again, given that the PORTUGUESE are, as yet, stating that they have NOT been approached by the British authorities in the matter, then perhaps they’ll rather need more than strength and determination to come up with anything.

For me, I prefer to afford the words, “Strength and Determination” to the decent people of Portugal. The people whose lives, jobs and industries have been blighted because of continual derogating by the British Media.

“Sardine Munchers” and “Country Bumpkins” were just TWO popular epithets coined by “Fleet Street’s finest” to vilify, firstly the Portuguese police, their authorities, their Government and finally their people.

Yet “Strength and Determination” were exactly what was shown by the many Portuguese locals who worked through the WHOLE of that summer night, and BEYOND, in 2007, on their hands and knees sifting for clues as to the whereabouts of a missing girl. People who did so instead of returning home to their families, or continuing with their own work and lives.

The same people, along with the police, at whom Kate McCann expresses anger and frustration at in her “truthful” book, for not helping to look for Madeleine.

“I simply cannot imagine the pain you must have experienced.................”

That was the OTHER part of the quotation, directed at the McCanns by David Cameron.

If I might take something of a liberty, I’d like to reserve THAT sentiment for the estimated 110 families whose children have been reported as officially missing since 2007, whose “Strength and Determination” have indeed prevailed, in spite of NOT enjoying close to a £3 million budget to help find them, along with a whole gamut of multi-millionaire businessmen and celebrities, the entire British Media industry AND, it would appear, the undivided attention of Her Majesty's Government.

It remains to be seen whether or not the British Government performs yet another U turn on their decision to fund the Metropolitan Police’s New Scotland Yard “review” of the evidence relating to the case of the missing girl, Madeleine McCann.

David, “call me Dave” Cameron has just announced that he is asking the Met’s finest to “bring their expertise to the case”. Or as Britain’s finest journo’s opine:

”Scotland Yard Hunt’s for Maddie” and

“Yard to try and bring Maddie back”.

As I currently write this, I understand that there are huge reservations and not an inconsiderable amount of discomfort amongst certain Senior Officers about this proposal. Ostensibly, because it means tying up much needed resources and manpower on what is, effectively, a VERY cold case.

I would also suggest that quite a few of those reservations are held by bemused officers who will also be wondering how on earth such a review can possibly take place, given that it is going to require MORE than their “expertise” in negotiating certain ‘aspects’ of the case.

Aspects that have categorically NO place in Team McCann’s agenda.

Aspects that unequivocally NEVER get mentioned in the British Press, nor are ever uttered from the mouths of its senior Media figures.

Aspects that have no place in the sentiments or thoughts of the wealthy business figures who have bankrolled many of the McCanns exploits and sojourns around the world in their quest to “find” Madeleine.

Aspects that have probably never even crossed the sycophantic leanings of the innumerable celebrities, pop stars, writers, TV presenters and public figures who have tied their ribbon on the Madeleine McCann cause.

Those aspects being the Portuguese aspects.

For, if there IS to be a review, then it cannot possibly take place without incorporating the Portuguese Police findings.

And as much as Team McCann and the British Press, (and clearly to a degree, the British AUTHORITIES), like to assert that the Portuguese closed the case by concluding that the McCanns, (along with Robert Murat), were CLEARED of any involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, a thorough scrutiny of that final report reveals a rather different picture.

For the report clearly notes a number of issues which are worthy of mention and indeed, further evaluation. In fact, as I have pointed out previously, I often wonder if in fact, whether the Press or the Authorities have actually read the report at all, or have in fact read a DIFFERENT report.

From day one, this whole case has been beset with innuendo, supposition, conjecture, opinion, and theory, some of which is definitely conspiratorial. But the Police, IF they carry out a review, are going to have to address and explain away some FACTS that the McCanns and their supporters are going to find rather unpalatable.

Like the FACT that the ONLY, tangible evidence that Madeleine McCann was ever abducted originates from Jane Tanner.

And if they are going to try and validate and support Ms. Tanner as a credible witness, then they are going to have to try and explain not only WHICH of the MANY differing eyewitness accounts she and Team McCann assert to be genuine ARE, in fact, genuine:- (egg man, bundle man, spotty man, Robert Murat, hippy-man, paedo-man, FEMALE-man, god-knows –who- else –man), but also explain why ALL of the others are NOT.

More importantly, (and I don’t profess to be a Scotland Yard ‘expert’), but if one is to conclude that Tanner is LYING, (and she clearly is unless she wishes to insist that ALL of her estimated 9 or 10 different descriptions are correct); then one would have to conclude that the evidence for an abduction is, NONE.

A Scotland Yard man of merit would then have to further read the report, together with all the Portuguese reports, statements, documents and contemporaneous notes. And he would have to explain away the clear “inconsistencies” in the witness statements made by the McCanns and their Tapas friends, as clearly pointed out in the report that Team McCann asserts to be the one that puts them in the clear. Inconsistencies surrounding their movements, their observations, their positions at any given time, what they witnessed, what they saw.

In order to clear this inextricable confusion and mess up, perhaps the Yard’s “expertise” can coerce the McCanns and their friends to undertake the essential reconstruction that the Portuguese could NOT persuade them to take.

Another ASPECT that the Yard are going to have to contend with are the use of Enhanced Victim Recovery Dogs. Eddie & Keela’s findings in the McCann apartment and their vehicle and on many of the personal possessions of the McCanns are well documented.

It is a very simple matter for Clarence Mitchell and the McCanns to glibly refute their findings, explaining away their “unreliability” and inadmissibility as evidence by pointing to a case in the United States where such evidence was successfully challenged by a top US Lawyer.

Bit tricky to do the same thing when such dogs have made well documented, irrefutably PROVEN contributions to many Scotland Yard cases, not to mention hundreds of OTHER Constabularies all over the UK and elsewhere Worldwide.

Best NOT ask the dogs, eh Gerry?

Equally, perhaps the Yard can procure those DNA samples that were initially reported as being a “match” to Madeleine McCann, and explain why eventually, the FSS at Birmingham, (a department now facing closure) and who have for many years been Universally acknowledged as being “the BEST in the world”, eventually decided, (after much delay and confusion), that the material in fact, was “not identified to pertaining to anyone specific”.

Perhaps the man at the Yard can exercise his expertise and cast some light on that blue holdall that Martin Brunt NEVER mentions anymore.

No! I jest a little.

What I REALLY want the Met’s finest to do is ask Kate McCann exactly WHAT it was that was shown to Kate at her interview. As the final report clearly states:

“Kate Healy was not immediately made an arguida, but merely interviewed voluntarily as a witness. Only after her interview was she made an arguida, that is, after she was confronted with concrete facts that might lead to her incrimination”

“...concrete facts that might lead to her incrimination” ???

Concrete FACTS, Kate? Gerry? Mr. Mitchell? It can’t be brushed off as “scurrilous, unhelpful speculation” by those bungling Porto Plod. It’s right there. In black and white. In the report.

The report that Team McCann so vehemently wave in the faces of anyone who dares to doubt their version of events. You can’t pick and choose the good bits, Clarence, and dismiss the rest as hogwash.

I don’t personally care about the McCanns. I honestly don’t know what they did or didn’t do. In the great scope of things, it matters little.

I don’t even admonish or criticise them for systematically leaving their children unattended, an act that would obviously contribute to Madeleine’s disappearance, were an abduction genuine.

Why not? Because I believe that the fact that their children were alone has absolutely NOTHING to do with Madeleine being missing.

I’d so love for Madeleine McCann to walk home tomorrow; to confound the world and be found, safe and well. But that can’t surely happen. Because if we have to hold on to some vestige of common sense and sanity in this case, then we have to accept the findings of those dogs, no matter what Kate says. (Actually, Kate you’re right. The dogs DID want to please their handler, Martin Grime. Pleasing him is exactly the premise on which they function. For which they get a reward and a pat on the head. Pleasing their handler is ALL they know. That, and the scent of cadaverine or blood).

We HAVE to give serious consideration to the truth that Madeleine died in Portugal, four summers ago. We have to do so, because the Portuguese investigated and believe so. It’s clearly documented in their reports, even if that ‘final report’ doesn’t quite specify so, but merely proffers it.

Only the British Media refer to the Policia Judiciaria as “bungling”, “inept”, “Porto plod” and “sardine munchers”. Prior to this case they were considered globally, rather like our OWN finest Police Force, as being amongst the best in the world.

We also have to consider it so because it has been documented that Leicestershire Police ALSO advised of their belief that Madeleine died in Portugal.

I haven’t yet seen any tabloid headlines calling THEM useless. Not yet, anyway.

Kate’s book will, without a doubt, throw up HUNDREDS of yet MORE inconsistencies and contradictions. Not contradicting the Portuguese Police or other observers, but contradicting herself. When you tell so many untruths, it’s so hard to remember what you said in the first place.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that this “review” will never take place at all. At least, not in the form that it should.

Because now, I believe the case of Madeleine McCann to be at a most crucial crossroads. I believe that the outcome of this “review”will either decide that a historically unprecedented number of people are going to be subjected to some accusatory probing and be eternally embarrassed, including at least ONE ex- Prime Minister, by virtue of the Yard finding that the McCanns DO have something to hide, as purported by the Portuguese; OR.

OR.

The Government cut the Portuguese out of the “review” all together, meaning that the Britain’s finest Police Force will have to find in accordance with what they believe themselves. Or, rather, what they are told to believe.

And this case will continue to be a tragedy for us, one and all.

Madeleine McCann: Letter to the Editor (revisited)

I have actually just been emailed this, which I believe was originally submitted to the ANORAK site, although I think it was translated and published in Portugal.

Written over 2 and a half years ago, I had actually forgotten all about it! Reading it again makes me realise just how little things have changed in this case! It was, (and still IS), intended to lambast the Press and how they can inform and shape the lives of people who read their words. It also serves to illustrate that, (as I am FOREVER reiterating), it is not just about what really happened in Praia da Luz in 2007, but about the obvious and glaring contradictions in what we are TOLD happened.

Or didn't, as the case may be......

Dear Mr. Editor………

I’m quite sure that you are very busy, organising your hacks and other staff, clearing away space on the front pages of your newspapers to make way for tomorrows joyous headlines, not to mention the inevitable ‘’pull out and keep’’ 10 page insert guide, explaining the tragic chain of events that have had to be endured by Saint Gerry & Kate of Rothley.

“Bungling/Boozy/Inept/ Sardine Munching Porto Plods finally admit defeat!!”,“The agony goes on for our Kate & Gerry” and “Vindicated at last!!”,

Just some, I am CERTAIN, of the headlines that we will all be reading about in the next couple of days. Readers will then be subjected to innumerable column inches over the coming weeks, with poignant articles from Richard Madely, Amanda Pearson, Carol Malone et al, explaining how they had all ‘been there’ for our illustrious golden couple, supporting them in their hour ofneed, joining forces to combat and admonish those ‘vile evil whisperings’ that were emanating along the corridors of certain internet forums and blogs.

No doubt, celebs’ agents are already in negotiation with tabloid editors,all lining up to prepare their clients to express their solidarity by way of ‘exclusive interviews’; “as a parent myself, I can’t imagine what hell they have had to go through………by the way, my new book, which is out this
Monday……………………….”

Who knows?. Almost certainly an OBE or two will be in the pipeline, especially if the McCanns are allowed to take credit for the European ‘AMBER ALERT’.

Clarence Mitchell will almost certainly be given greater impetus, either directly or otherwise, to organise the Government’s Media Monitoring Unit, to clamp down and to CLOSE down those websites and bloggers that influence sufficient numbers of people to be potentially detrimental to New Labours diktats, (as he did the MIRROR Forum).

Tony ‘Glenda’ Parsons, will undoubtedly have accrued sufficient soundbites to keep his Mirror column going for the next 2 years.

But, Mr. Editor, just before you fall asleep at night in your bed, having finished the proof reading to your simpering, sycophantic, subservient homage to Clarence Mitchell’s release, please give a little thought to the following:-

Irrespective of what the Portuguese announce on Monday, the 20th July, there are a number of serious issues and questions which, FAR from being answered, have actually never been ASKED.

It may very well please you and whoever is dictating your editorial policy to perpetually vilify and BLAME the Portuguese authorities, their police or even their subjects for every aspect of the Madeleine McCann tragedy, but that would not explain, in any way, the following:–

The suspicions surrounding the McCanns and their possible involvement in the disappearance of their daughter arose, NOT because the Policia Judiciaria were inept and clueless, but because the McCanns made inaccurate statements, from the outset - statements about their movements, the movements of their friends, about the state and condition of how they found the apartment and the shutters, statements about what they discovered and discussed.

We ‘know’ that they made inaccurate statements because what they said directly contravened and countered what the other stated, as well as what some of their friends stated. And they can’t ALL have been correct. Inaccurate statements, Lies or omissions?

Likewise, it wasn’t the ‘bungling Porto plod’ that strongly suspected or suggested that Madeleine may have died in the apartment.

It was a couple of British dogs. Specialist canines, who have a LONG and proven history and success rate in determining and locating the precise areas of residual tissue and and materials relating to cadavers. Specialist dogs who have a proven track record across virtually every Constabulary across the UK.

Not, I am sure, that you will give much credence or space to their findings in Portugal, but HOW would you propose to explain away their behaviour in Praia da Luz, in the apartment, on Kate McCanns clothes and belongings? Having a bad day? Inconclusive? The fact that it is not wholly admissible in a Court of Law?

And what about that car boot sample? The Birmingham FSS, the acknowledged, finest Forensic science laboratory in the world? Martin Brunt is STILL on the Sky News website video, reporting a “100% DNA Match to Madeleine McCann”. Was he misinformed? Contaminated sample? Mistaken Process? Total fabrication? We may never know, especially given that the British authorities are fighting to ensure that particular aspect of this case remains secret. (Have you ever asked
yourself why that is?, Mr. Editor, or are you simply not permitted to question Mr. Mitchells rhetoric?)

Are you also, Mr.Editor, going to lambast those bungling, inept, incapable LEICESTERSHIRE police, who were also widely reported as concurring, and in some cases even SUGGESTING, that Madeleine died in the apartment on that first night in May?

“ Licentious, lacklustre, Leicester Police loonies!” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, does it Mr.Editor?

Friends in high places? Curious RICH associates and backers, underhand Government assistance? Prime Ministerial blessings, chats and advice?. Papal divine intervention, European and world leaders hob-nobs?. It’s all there Mr. Editor. Enough material to sell a billion Sunday journals. So why no interest?

You see, Mr. Editor; I don’t really know what happened in Praia da Luz in May of last year. I don’t know why, how or when. I wasn’t there. Neither were you. We can only listen to those that are either close to, or aligned to, the proceedings in question.

It boils down to who and what you want to believe.

I am reminded of Herman Goering. He once stated, “It’s always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it’s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy” How right he was.

I realised just how right he was when George Bush convinced the majority of his people that Saddam Hussein had a hand in 9/11, just before he embarked on the massacre of an estimated 600,000 Iraqi men, women and children, just so that Halliburtons could procure the rich oil fields; (FAT lot of good THAT did with the current oil price, but I digress.)

What I particularly hate about THAT atrocity, is that the British went ahead and held his hand while he did it. Only at least Blair gave the British people SOME credit. He knew we wouldn’t buy the 9/11 angle, so he made up the WMD’s story, inventing documents, dossiers and ‘intelligence’ as he went along.

Charles de Mendez? We would know for sure, exactly what happened to him, poor chap, were we to examine the countless surveillance video of the event. Except, for some reason, we can’t. Because the tape is apparently damaged or lost, or the cameras malfunctioned or were facing the wrong way or were broken or vandalised. Or all of the above.

And of course, when Neil Mackay sensationally reported in 2003 that “senior members” of the Labour Government were being investigated for “pedophilia and the “enjoyment” of child-sex pornography”, as part of the infamous ’Operation Ore’, Tony Blair very quickly and effectively served a D.A NOTICE on the press and media, banning details of these matters being reported. A ban that still
stands today. A sublime example of how a Government and its press can lie, mislead and fool its people.

So, you see, Mr. Editor. You will have to forgive me if I choose not to believe a single word that your paper publishes on the Madeleine Mccann case.

You will have to excuse me if I do not join in the rejoicing and celebrations when the illustrious couple are exonerated , nor contribute to their inevitable NEW fund to help them “find their daughter”.

Because, although it may be ultimately true that there is insufficient evidence to prove the culpability of the McCanns in the disappearance of their daughter, there is most definitely AMPLE and OVERWHELMING evidence that the authorities of this country do not wish for the truth to ever come out.

BUT; if there IS a god, and the leaders who presided over this debacle and cover up ever have to stand and atone before him, then rest assured that their minions:- the paltry, gutless, servile cowards who spread their lies and diktats in their respective newspapers, will have to atone also.

That’s YOU, Mr. Editor.

Perhaps you’d care to dwell on that point before you fall asleep tonight.

That and the image of a precious, angelic and innocent little girl for whom, with your able assistance, Justice was denied

Kate's Book Madeleine: No.1 in Bestseller FICTION list

Perhaps above all other cases, that of the missing girl, Madeleine McCann is enshrouded in the greatest tragedy and MYSTERY.

Irrespective of what actually happened to the little girl, the facts surrounding her disappearance and current whereabouts are not only unknown, but in the absence of any illuminating evidence or dramatic discovery, quite possibly will remain so for ever more.

The movements, behaviour and comments of her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance, together with those of their friends, have been the subject of much conjecture and speculation since May 2007.

Newspapers, both here and in Portugal, have previously suggested that the course of events as explained and propagated by what has come to be, disaffectionately, known as ‘TEAM McCANN’, did not stand up to scrutiny.

Contradictions galore, non-corroboration of ‘Tapas members’ statements and bizarre, inexplicable behaviour led some to suggest that the McCanns and their Holidaying compatriots were hiding something.

The PORTUGUESE Police, the previously World respected and renowned Polícia Judiciária, were rather less circumspect. Their report of September 2007 by Tavares de Almeida, then Chief Inspector, concluded, (amongst other things), that:

Madeleine McCann died in the Holiday apartment on 3^rd May 2007.

A staged HOAX abduction took place.

The McCanns were involved in the concealment of the corpse of their daughter.

Of course, we now know this statement must be wrong. We know this because the then Police Inspector in charge of the investigation, Goncalo Amaral, was SACKED, after complaining about BRITISH Government “interference” in the case, enabling the British newspapers to clarify the whole matter and explain to us that he is, in fact, a “Boozy Porto Plod” and is forever to be referred to as that “Disgraced Maddie Cop”.

We also know that this Report must be untrue because that nice man Richard Desmond, (proprietor EXPRESS newspapers, amongst others) who decided to reprint some of the Portuguese Press’s reporting’s on the case, based on this PJ report, then went on to GIFT the McCann’s and their friends almost a MILLION POUNDS STERLING between them, ALL of which ended up in the Kate & Gerry fund... (SORRY...I mean the ‘Looking for Madeleine’ fund).

Desmond, a man who enjoys a reputation as a rather FEARLESS and FEARSOME individual had his newspapers explain that there was in fact “no evidence whatsoever” to support the theory that the McCanns were involved in Madeleine’s death or her disappearance, specifying that they were “completely innocent of any involvement”.

Along with the cash settlements, (for an Action that never even reached the jurisdiction of the Courts), the newspapers also included endless front page apologies, an act described as “unprecedented”, by Media commentator Roy Greenslade.

(Curiously, despite the fact that MANY OTHER journals and publications printed identical, and in some cases, FAR MORE inflammatory comments, they escaped both censure and litigation.)

And of course, we also know that Tavares de Almeida’s statements must be wrong because after Mr. Amaral was sacked and replaced, the ENTIRE PORTUGUESE POLICE AUTHORITIES were sacked by ‘Team McCann’, and replaced by those world renowned sterling crime fighters, Metodo 3, led by Senior Detective Clarence Mitchell.

Mitchell’s frequent Press Conferences pleaded for information about a whole plethora of bizarre, contrived characters, plagiarised from that week’s tabloid paedophile story or courtesy of some never previously reported witness who had suddenly remembered some crucial bogey man or malevolent looking individual(s).

This, remarkably, in turn then coerced Jane Tanner into a moment of clarity; enabling Clarence to report that she believed these new ‘suspects’ to resemble the person Jane had witnessed carrying, what she believed to be Madeleine, away from the apartment on the night of May 3^rd.

Of course, Ms. Tanner’s testimony itself has long been the subject of scrutiny and discussion, not least because when she first spoke to the police about the ‘abductor ‘ she alleges to have seen, she stated that she was unsure as to whether he was carrying anything or not. Some Month’s later however, she recalled that not only was he carrying something, but someONE, and that it was a little GIRL.

Wearing PYJAMAS identical to the one’s Madeleine was supposed to have been wearing!

Of course, in any other circumstances, this ‘testimony’ (to which the Portuguese Authorities never afforded any significance or reliability), would be of only minor relevance, an incongruous anomly, were it not for the FACT that Tanner’s sighting forms the ONLY EVIDENCE that an abduction took place at all.

Fortunately for all concerned, not LEAST for the investigation, Jane was afforded the opportunity to clarify all these seeming inconsistencies and glaring contradictions in her ever-changing evidence, when she was interviewed by Leicestershire Police in April 2008. When asked to describe the man she saw in detail, she stated, (verbatim):

“You see, this is where, now, I'm really... I don't even know whether it's worth doing this, because there's been so much since then. I've had the... when they took me round for the surveillance to look at... and I'm guessing now it's MURAT they wanted me to look at and, you know.........all the other bits and bobs, I really don't know, but I think I'd prefer just to stick with what I said in my original statement, in terms of the... because, even... I mean, this is coming back to the sketch, even when I did the sketch, by that stage, you know, things were... were murky..... I needed to do that sketch that first night, I mean, they took me in to do the sketch, but they only had, errm... front facing software, so...you know... and at that point I said, you know, is there?... can I do?... because the clothes and everything was the thing... was the thing that was the most in my mind then and I can remember saying to the chap I met on the stairs earlier......”

All clear? Good.

But of course, the MAIN reason why we know that Tavares de Almeida’s report is wrong is because in June 2008, the Portuguese produced another, FINAL report, as presented to the Attorney General, (although, remarkably, this didn’t mention that it invalidated the first, ‘interim’ report and in fact used much of its original content, without the specific conclusions of Almeida, of course).

This is THE report, according to ‘Team McCann’and the British Newspapers and Media ,that “Clears” the McCanns of any involvement in the disappearance of their daughter. We know this because Clarence perpetually refers to this report whenever he wishes to reinforce his client’s innocence.

Tabloid AND Broadsheet headlines such as “Madeleine McCann police clear Kate & Gerry as they shelve case” (The Telegraph); “Kate and Gerry McCann cleared over Madeleine disappearance” (Sunday Times); “Kate and Gerry in clear” (The People) and “Portugals TOP COP set to clear Kate and Gerry” (The SUN), are pretty unequivocal in their message: that the Portuguese finally admit what the British Press, the McCanns themselves and their supporters have been saying all along, which is that Kate and Gerry had no involvement in the disappearance of their daughter and that the Portuguese Authorities were very clearly the inept, “bungling Porto plod” that they were frequently described as.

Except.

That’s not quite the truth. It IS true that this report, (which lifted the arguido status of the McCanns, along with Robert Murat), concludes: “despite all that has been done and in spite of all our efforts and lines of enquiry, it has not been possible to obtain a solid and objective conclusion about what really happened that night, nor about the present location of Madeleine”.

(It also clearly illustrates and DEMONSTRATES the HUGE and hardworking efforts made by the Authorities and the Portuguese people to try and find Madeleine, including securing the apartment, roadblocks, house to house searches and an account of ALL the intelligence and sightings that passed through their offices, unquestionably refuting the claims by ‘Team McCann’, their friends and the British Press that the Police were useless and ‘bungling’).

It is only recently that I have actually paid any real attention to this publically available report. My nefarious mind had previously concluded that it wouldn’t be worth reading as it was likely to have been written, at least in consultation with, and possibly agreed by, Senior Detective Clarence Mitchell.

However, it is abundantly clear, after having studied the document to any appreciable degree, that one must question exactly WHICH passages the British Media are referring to when they assert that the report “Clears” the McCann’s and their friends of any wrongdoing.

In fact, one might question whether they have actually read the report at all, or have in fact read a DIFFERENT report.

For I can think of no other explanation for them NOT addressing the following facts:

The report makes VERY clear that there were “inconsistencies” surrounding the evidence and testimonies of the McCanns and their friends, and that these inconsistencies could have been easily highlighted and addressed were it not for the “un-cooperation from several, relevant witnesses”.

The report goes on to specify that there were CLEAR inconsistencies and irregularities with some of the statements provided by the McCanns and their friends, thus the need for a reconstruction, particularly in relation to Jane Tanners’ statements relating to her alleged sighting of a “supposed abductor”, specifically noting that at the precise same time, Gerry McCann and TV Producer Jeremy Wilkins were in the very same “narrow confines of space”, yet neither man saw either Tanner OR the alleged abductor.

The Police’s dissatisfaction over the account of the events on May 3^rd was, probably, partially because of, as is included in the documents, a “typed report produced by the McCann holiday group after a detailed joint meeting between them all. This report of theirs deals with their recollections about the events of the evening of 3^rd May”.

(The inference being that the McCanns and their friends submitted, as testimony to the investigation, their accounts of the night Madeleine was reported missing, AFTER they had all got together to discuss it and formulate it beforehand!)

But for ME, the biggest mystery of all relating to the ignoring by the media of this report lies in the inarguable evidence as unearthed by the specialist Enhanced Victim Recovery Dogs.

Although the report makes clear that these “canine markings”, made by Eddie and Keela, the famous specialist ‘Cadaver’dogs, were NOT corroborated by the FINAL FSS Laboratory results, :(“the material collected was not identified to pertaining to anyone specific”); it is OBVIOUS that the Portuguese WERE initially advised of a match to Madeleine McCann by the FSS, (SKY’s Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt was advised of a 100% Match to Madeleine, and reported as much on television, as did most other journals and media outlets with varying degrees of percentile match).

BUT the mere fact that these dogs ACCURATELY and UNQUESTIONABLY scented sources of cadaverine and other biologic materials in the McCanns apartment, their hire car and on the McCanns personal belongings, and ONLY IN AND ON THOSE PLACES and in NO OTHER APARTMENTS, CARS OR OBJECTS, is surely deserving of the attention of even the most obtuse journalist.

But NOW, it seems, there IS hope.

After years of “scurrilous allegations” *, “unhelpful and hurtful comments” * and “ludicrous speculation” *, (*©Copyright C. Mitchell), we are, it seems finally going to get THE, definitive, factually accurate and honest account of what really took place in Praia da Luz during that fateful summer of 2007.

In what is being billed as an “account of the truth” by KATE McCANN, the Daily Mail reports that “THE true story of Madeleine McCann's disappearance is set to be revealed in an explosive new book billed as the publishing sensation of the year”.

(Explosive?)

I’m pretty sure that Richard Desmond must be trying to exact a little tongue-in-cheek revenge for his own, previously referred to, expensive publishing’s on the McCann case, for according to the Daily Express, Kate’s reasons for writing the book were “simple. To give an account of the truth.” However, the paper includes this statement directly adjacent to its note that Kate was signing, a “Multi-million pound publishing deal”.

So what can possibly be so “explosive” in this account? What secrets are set to be “sensational”? What is Kate set to REVEAL, in the book described in another tabloid as the book that is “set to reveal all”?

At the risk of ruining the plot for those set to form suitable and orderly queues outside their book stores, or those placing orders with their Newsagents to reserve their copies of the newspapers who are paying HUGE sums for the serialisation rights, I’m going to hazard an educated guess and propose a synopsis :-

1. The Portuguese Police are useless.

2. Madeleine was kidnapped, probably by a paedophile(s), or by someone on behalf of a paedophile(s).

3. The Portuguese police tried to frame Kate and Gerry.

4. Madeleine is alive, and will one day be reunited with her family, (as long as kind people and celebrities continue to send donations, items for auction and other forms of financial backing or pecuniary advantage).

5. The Portuguese Police are useless.

6. Erm...that’s it.

What the book probably will NOT contain, are any explanations or answers regarding the innumerable questions that many followers of this case might care to ask.

Questions, perhaps, relating to shutters.

Broken or jemmied? Open or closed?

Windows open or closed?

Open or closed balcony doors?

Open or closed FRONT doors?

Doors closed and locked or doors closed and UNLOCKED?

All were testified to during those first interviews, (the breaking of the shutters aspect being widely broadcast and published during interviews with the McCanns’ relatives) but given that Kate made the discovery that her daughter was missing, SHE and only she knows for certain.

Nor, no doubt, will Kate probably explain WHY, when confronted with the IRREFUTABLE “canine markings” of the specialist dogs that detected the scent of BOTH cadaverine and biological fluids, signalling a DEAD human body, did the McCanns contact the lawyers of a man charged with murder who “successfully challenged sniffer dog evidence”, for advice.

Rather than break down uncontrollably at the revelation suggesting that their daughter had died in the apartment?

Perhaps Kate will also enlighten us as to why, in the dead of night, she clearly thought that the best person to find Madeleine would be a Roman Catholic priest?

And given that the McCanns have acquired something of a predilection for writing regularly to a whole host of celebrities and other individuals for DONATIONS, their latest fundraiser involving BAGS being donated by famous owners for a recently held auction to raise monies for their cause, (to which Kylie Minogue was a donor); perhaps Kate will touch on that famous BLUE tennis BAG of their own, a holdall that the Portuguese were so anxious to trace after it went missing.

The one that Martin Brunt’s documentary insisted “could hold the key to Madeleine’s disappearance”.

The one whose whereabouts BRITISH police tried to ascertain in subsequent Rogatory questioning of ‘Tapas’ members.

The one that that appeared in the photograph of the McCann apartment, as presented to Kate by the Portuguese Police, on the occasion she elected NOT to answer any one of the infamous “48 questions”.

The one that Clarence Mitchell insists NEVER EXISTED. “Gerry has never owned such a bag. As far as Kate and Gerry are concerned, there is no missing tennis bag. They came back from holiday with everything except of course, tragically, Madeleine”, he explains.

I have absolutely no doubts that Kate is going to regale us with horrendous stories about how she was pressured by the Portuguese Police, about that famous plea bargain deal, (as explained by Philomena McCann), that would see her serving a lighter sentence if she confessed to having been involved in Madeleine’s death.

But I equally have absolutely no doubt that she categorically WON’T explain the one thing that resulted in her being made an Arguida in the first place. The one that EVERY single Media outlet either completely missed, or elected NOT to probe or question.

The one FACT that is there, in black and white, in the FINAL report. The report that Clarence swears by and the one that ‘Team McCann’ adhere to when explaining their complete innocence.

The one that appears under the Policia Judiciaria’s reasons for making the McCanns suspects:

“...concrete facts that might lead to her incrimination” ???

Do tell, Kate. What were these “concrete facts” that you were confronted with?

No doubt Kate will include in her writings the countless sleepless nights she experiences on a regular basis.

The lying awake, thinking.

Doubts, fears? Remorse. Guilt? Perhaps.

Perhaps also a touch of worry and concern? Worry at not knowing exactly what is in those other thousands of documents that the Portuguese still cling to? Or perhaps, given your seemingly endless number of friends in very high places, concern because you DO know what is in those documents?

As has always been, and perhaps always WILL be in this case; the questions keep on mounting, but the answers come not.

So, to conclude, I’m going to answer one of the questions that Kate will almost CERTAINLY answer herself, in her book. The question as to WHY she has persistently refused, (along with her husband and friends), to partake in a reconstruction?

Kate is going to say tell us she doesn’t trust the bungling, useless Portuguese Police; a force that, not only tried to “frame” her and her husband, but failed to properly look for the person(s), who kidnapped her daughter.

She is, no doubt, going to cite all the ‘evidence’ as obtained by Metodo 3, along with all the other dubious ‘detective agencies’, ex-special policemen and ‘Team McCann’ Media consultants POSING as ex- special policemen; evidence and suspects as printed in every paper in the UK ranging from Third World paedophile rings who “snatch to order”, to known dead convicted sex offenders who had a secret that they never quite confessed to.

The answer she ISN’T going to give is this one:

You can’t reconstruct a lie. You can’t reconstitute an illusion. Like all magic tricks, you can only ever show it to your audience once, or they will quickly work out how you did it.

I would hesitate to assert that I actually ‘enjoy’ a reputation of being a vociferous critic of Kate and Gerry McCann.

I have always found it most amusing and occasionally frustrating, (and still do) that, given that I consider myself a sometime serious investigative journalist of quite a few proud achievements over an 18 year period, that my moniker should only ever be associated with my musings over and a video relating to an, (as yet), unsolved and unfathomable missing child case.

When I consider the multitudinous blogs and websites that vilify and subject the McCann’s to all kinds of conjecture and curious conspiracy theories, I am forever surprised at the severity of the responses, abuse and messages that find their way into my mailbox. After all, I have NEVER specifically accused them of anything.

I have never, for instance, lambasted them for leaving their children unattended, which they DID, certainly to a much greater degree than they would have us believe, (although I always found it odd why they didn’t accept the available night-time babysitting services, especially given that their 3 children spent the majority of their holiday daytime in the day care nursery).

Nor have I ever really criticised the rather chilling and clinical formation of the ‘Look for Madeleine’ project, especially so SOON after the little girl’s disappearance; basically a slickly rolled out Limited Company designed to create money and, erm....., create money.

No. My criticisms and barbed comments have generally been reserved for their toadying supporters, the ‘Z’ list, (and occasional ‘A’ list) celebrities who managed to think they could enhance their profile by aligning themselves to the McCann’s cause celebre.

I will admit to having frequently given special mention of course, to the British PRESS, whose Editorial policy is very clearly being dictated to them by way of a combination of bullying, back-scratching and financial incentives. (Not to mention the THREATS by some of the big companies to refrain from spending any more of their advertising budget with them, as has been pointed out to me by a former Senior News Editor).

I may also have lambasted certain factions of the previous ‘Nu Labour’ administration, (including the Premier Gordon Brown) who, on occasions, apportioned more time intervening, arranging World leader meetings and Papal visits for them and making personal telephone calls to them than the time spent for some of the duties they were elected to undertake!.

It is true, also, I have to admit that I might have reserved a harsh word or two for the utterly unique, unenviable and one time ubiquitous Clarence Mitchell.

Whoever decided that Mr. Mitchell would be the best spokesperson and general representative for a couple at one time facing serious criminal charges is a mystery to me all on its own.

For here is a man whose very raison d’être is to fabricate, concoct and invent; a man whose most prolific previous appointment was to basically SPY on the British population by way of monitoring their opinions, thoughts and deeds in his role as the Head of the Central Office of Information’s ‘Media Monitoring Unit’.

His role? To basically ‘eavesdrop’ and gauge public opinion, compare it to what the Government’s desired views were/are and to control and influence that opinion towards the Government’s way of thinking.
OR, as the official description states:

“The Central Office of Information (COI) is the Government's centre of excellence for marketing and communications. Since 1946 we have worked in partnership with government departments and the public sector to drive best practice and cost effectiveness in the way citizens are informed, engaged and influenced about issues that affect their lives – from health and education to benefits, rights and welfare”.

Yes. Quite. I prefer my description.

But Clarence is not a man who lives and works by any convictions, morals, principles, general beliefs or LOYALTIES. Clarence is a man for HIRE. For ANY cause, as long as the price is right.

It is telling, is it not, that the man, who was instrumental in formulating the Nu Labour marketing and communications as head of their ‘Media Monitoring’, should subsequently work for the , erm...CONSERVATIVES during their last Election campaign as erm.......Head of Media Monitoring?!

Like a mad scientist from a James Bond movie, Clarence is basically a man who is precision skilled in snooping on what a Nation thinks, controlling the information that leads them to think that way, then MODERATING said information in order to make them think in another way!

It is a sure FACT that the huge plethora of stories that appear in virtually every British publication, relating to Madeleine McCann, have either been penned by, or certainly OK’d, by Clarence Mitchell.

Every Maddie “sighting”, persistent theory of abduction, every tale of evil paedophile rings in far off lands; every detective, private investigator, super-sleuth and other assorted odd witnesses who appear in the press with the latest theory/evidence/experience about where Madeleine was, is or could be, would have received the Clarence seal of approval.

If you were to ask me 5 years ago whether I thought that any GROUP,( let alone an individual), would or COULD, ever be powerful or influential enough to curtail a globally popular Internet FORUM, to basically close it down, then I would have laughed.

Yet that is exactly what Clarence Mitchell did, at a stroke.

The MGM Mirror Group’s popular Forum, relating to Madeleine McCann, and subscribed to by an estimated several hundred thousand readers, disappeared without a trace and without warning, save for a brief, single line explanation about ‘abuse' issues.

At the time of its closing, I was told by a Mirror contributing journalist close to the Editor that officially the HOME Office had exerted pressure, but that it was, indeed, Mr. Mitchell who had been the successful applicant. (Mitchell has subsequently confirmed his role in closing down the Forum).

Such is the power and influence that the man exerts.

Here is a man who hangs his coat on any major news-line that comes along, enabling him to spread his own agenda. Any other poor soul unfortunate enough to suffer a missing or MURDERED child, (or missing/murdered person of ANY age), is sure to have their publicity hijacked by the “thoughts and prayers” of Kate and Gerry.

Any tale of people trafficking or child sex exploitation anywhere in the world is sure to be met with the assurance from Clarence that “Kate and Gerry are keeping an eye on developments”, intoning that such developments might lead them to Madeleine.

Not to worry if there aren’t any sufficiently reported tragedies taking place; Clarence will find another angle.

The ongoing saga of the Cell ‘phone Voice Mail ‘bugging’ escapades by the News of the World inspired our man! Despite there been absolutely no evidence to support it, and the fact that the Scotland Yard investigation has revealed nothing to validate it, Clarence is adamant that his Mobile Phone was bugged!

By whom and for what purpose he doesn’t exactly make clear, but it does give him the opportunity to spread several column inches about his clients across every journal that will listen.

And, maddeningly, they all love to listen to Clarence.

But I digress.

I have NEVER judged them, per se. Never passed comment on their general behavior, their demeanor, their curious and sometimes strange responses and reactions to questions posed to them.

I have never assumed anything untoward in their lack of genuine emotion, nor opined as to why Kate behaved the way that she did when being made an official Arguido, (not just the unanswered questions, but also certain irregularities relating to members of MI5 who were in attendance, according to Portuguese Intelligence officers).

OK, I DID make a comment about how lacking in conviction they made themselves look when they made an extensive Press Conference where the McCanns stated that they “would NOT leave Portugal without Madeleine”, 24 hours before being made official Arguidos and around 60 hours before, erm...........leaving Portugal without Madeleine.

But I have NEVER criticised or seriously questioned a specific act that either Kate or Gerry have undertaken.

Until now.

Claudia Lawrence, a 35 year old British woman, was last seen in March of 2009. The pain and trauma relating to her absence and to the uncertainty of her whereabouts must surely be immense for those who know her and to all whom Claudia means something.

Her fate is unknown.

On Sunday 27th February, a candle-lit vigil marking Claudia’s 37th Birthday was held at York Minster, presided over by the Archbishop of York.

Of course, it is true that in his local newspaper, Peter Lawrence, Claudia’s father, was reported as saying that he was “keen that other people who have had a relative or loved one go missing will attend the vigil – there is an open invitation.”

However, given that there is absolutely nothing, ostensibly, linking Madeleine McCann to Claudia Lawrence over and above the MANY thousands of other missing persons in the UK, a CYNICAL bastard might suggest that such an event merely presents a golden opportunity for Kate McCann to be photographed lighting a candle, pictured in every newspaper covering the event.

But such a vile publicity stunt would surely be way beyond the realms of what even Clarence and the McCanns would deem to be decency.

It would surely be beyond the limits of even the British Press, to allow such a poignant and sad vigil to be upstaged by using such a photo opportunity. It would never happen.

Right?

My Mate Nige.....................

My mate Nige was a curious looking chap. A quintessential ‘nerd’, I decided, when I first set eyes on him, with his mop of mousy, blonde locks, dowdy clothes and unfashionable spectacles.

He painted a most unassuming picture. Together with his softly spoken Yorkshire dialect, it would be very easy to deem him a bit ‘wimpish’.

But he epitomised the reason for the adage about looks being deceptive.

For Nigel was a REAL tough cookie; an Investigations Producer at the BBC, with a sharp mind and an even sharper wit.

A great journalist, he had worked as Associate Producer to John Pilger in a BAFTA winning documentary and had other award nominations for his BBC work.

I had known him for a few years but I didn’t get to know him well until earlier this year when I worked with him. He needed someone big, brash and ugly to work undercover in South London and he charmingly thought me perfect for the task.

Not that he couldn’t have done the job himself. Nige had trodden the deserts and dusty roads of IRAQ for a BBC documentary at great risk to his personal safety. There was certainly nothing and no-one by way of London’s’ unsavoury characters that fazed him too much, as many of the ‘victims’ of his stings and exposés had discovered, to their cost.

In fact, it was always a matter of some consternation on MY part that he would insist on being dropped off in the less than salubrious areas of London, often at night time, whilst I went on to attend to the investigation at hand. I would then often have to drive around in darkness, looking for him when it came to collecting him, losing him on MORE than one occasion.

His wife, Marie, was a beautiful Mauritian, and I joked to him that his children, two girls, had clearly inherited their Mother’s good looks.

But the truth was that, Nige was a man of great warmth, character, charm, humour and honesty, and it was impossible for anyone who knew him not to love him.

His unimposing frame and appearance also belied another factor; he was a good athlete and an accomplished MARATHON runner.

In April of this year, he ran the London Marathon in an impressive time, collecting funds for his favourite charity, “War Child”. His experiences in Iraq had shown him the lost and blighted lives of the youngest victims of war.

Ironically, it was shortly after this Marathon that Nigel began to feel unwell.

He thought he might have had a bit of a stomach ulcer and went for a check up.

He was diagnosed with Stomach cancer. A large tumour.

I learned of his illness through a close mutual friend and colleague and I was quick to offer whatever help or support I could.

I found him in resilient mood, as I expected. The doctor’s were optimistic, he said. They had caught the cancer reasonably early and tests suggested that it hadn’t spread.

He was prescribed bouts of Chemotherapy in order to shrink the tumour, to be followed up by surgery in late 2010 to remove his stomach.

We kept in fairly regular contact, via email and telephone. There were a couple of brief periods where I didn’t hear from him, but I expected this and knew that this was when the worst periods of his treatment were taking place and he was either too ill to speak or write, or he simply wanted to be left alone with his wife and children.

Whenever he DID communicate, he was always optimistic, 'though realistic. He wrote:-

“I have so many fences to jump. Some days every fence seems like Beecher's Brook on others not so high”.

I know that his worst moments were when he “drifted off” as he called it, and he thought about his girls “too much”.

Finally, ‘though, I was delighted to receive a ‘phone call from him. He reported that the tumour had shrunk “dramatically”, that his appetite had increased greatly and that he was starting to eat more and more.

His surgery had now been postponed until the New Year. He still knew that the removal of his stomach was no small task, and that he would have to dramatically change how often and how much he ate afterwards, but that was a surmountable problem in his eyes.

He was starting his third bout of Chemotherapy and he was now genuinely hopeful for the future. The author, explorer and ex-SAS soldier, Mike Asher, with whom Nige had worked with in Iraq, had booked him in for a 14 day camel trek in the Sudan/Khartoum in 2011, and he was more than confident that he would fulfil it.

His relief was tangible and he sounded almost elated. We made plans to catch up, within the following couple of weeks, for a drink or perhaps lunch.

The last words I said to him was that it was going to be a truly great Christmas in his family home.

I didn’t hear from him over the subsequent few weeks. I DID have a couple of ‘Missed Calls’ from him, on my mobile. HIS ‘phone, likewise, rang before going through to voicemail when I tried to return them. I wasn't unduly concerned for this was pretty much how our telephone conversations had always transpired, each missing each others' calls and leaving messages for the other.

By the time I heard from the same mutual close friend that he had deteriorated, he was already in a Hospice.

The cancer had spread to his liver, and had assumed its most aggressive form.

I hurriedly made arrangements to visit him on the following Friday.

He died on the Wednesday.

It would be wrong and presumptuous of me to assert that Nigel was a really “close” friend. Our paths never crossed in sufficient enough numbers, nor for a long enough period of time, for that.

But it is a testament to the degree of respect, admiration and love that I obviously had for the man that his passing has hit me harder than I could ever have imagined.

Frustratingly, (and painfully), I also find myself wondering if those missed calls were his way of saying the goodbye's I, myself, was too late in making.

I DO derive some comfort from the fact that I know our friendship, together with my words of support and encouragement, DID mean a lot to him. I shall forever retain the emails where he states so.

Nige was just 44 years old. His little girls aged perhaps 5 and 7.

I truly hope that the immense pride that they will surely feel for their father will eventually override the pain and sense of loss that they will undoubtedly have, each and every Christmas that they spend on this earth.

For me, I shall forever feel honoured and immensely grateful for the all too short period of time that he was in my life.

It isn’t true that only the good die young. But Nige was way too young and way too good to go so soon.

Madeleine McCann ------- The Scriptures According to the McCanns

After having successfully BANNED the sale and further publication of Goncalo Amaral’s book about the investigation into their missing daughter, (although that ban was subsequently overturned by the Lisbon Appeals Court, Kate & Gerry are STILL badgering away at the Portuguese judicial system to enforce the original ruling); The McCanns have announced that they are writing a book of their OWN, highlighting what is described as the “charting of Kate and Gerry McCann's desperate search for their daughter who disappeared”.

Kate McCann is quoted as saying "My reason for writing is simple -- to give an account of the truth."

However, given that the book was the subject of a “fierce bidding war”, (trade-speak for ridiculous sums of money offered, together with a big advance), I would suggest the REAL reason for the book is rather self-evident.

It was written with a “very heavy heart”, says Kate, but adds that "Every penny we raise through its sales will be spent on our search for Madeleine. Nothing is more important to us than finding our little girl."

On a PERSONAL level, I welcome the publication of this book most avidly.

One of the reasons why the McCanns have escaped so much criticism from some quarters of the Press and Media, (barring the direct interference from high placed ‘friends’ who have thus far managed to dictate the Editorial policy of MANY publications, programmes, and documentaries), is because they have been so RETICENT in explaining much of their own actions, observations and involvement in the judicial procedures surrounding the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance.

Indeed, what little they HAVE stated, on camera, (and by way of Gerry’s infamous, now defunct ‘blog’), has been rather obscure and ambiguous at best; bizarre, contrived and lacking credibility at worst. Perhaps their account of the investigation into their missing daughter will cast new light on what is a rather inexplicable case?

However, I fear that they have been rather ill-advised to state that the book will “Chart Kate and Gerry McCann's desperate search for their daughter”.

For, as I have stated on MORE than one occasion, it is a complete LACK of any evidence supporting their search for their daughter which has created much unease in my personal assimilation of the whole affair.

They created a MULTI-Million pound business/fund/website/engine/charity/, entitled “Looking for Madeleine”, yet LOOKING is the very thing I have never known them do.

Never. Ever.

Not even on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance, do any documents, statements or witnesses refer to any ‘searching’ or ‘looking’.

Lots of contradictory statements exist amongst the McCanns and their Tapas friends, regarding their movements, actions and observations leading up to, during and AFTER Madeleine’s disappearance, but nothing that seems to suggest any actual LOOKING. At ANY time.

With the inexorable complicity of Clarence Mitchell, (not to mention Government Ministers, including Gordon Brown), the McCanns were afforded audiences with the POPE, together with Political leaders from around the world.

They even were instrumental in being consulted in the formulation of possible new LAWS, designed to improve the processes of finding missing children. But of any actual LOOKING for Madeleine, there was none.

Whistle-stop tours took in Europe and the US, including the WHITE HOUSE, no less, for publicity and fund-raising stunts. But no actual searching.

The Internet is awash with a whole plethora of conspiracy theories surrounding the case of Madeleine McCann. From the ridiculous to the preposterous, they are all there. Some, perhaps, more than others having an element or modicum of truth.

I have often been asked, what the most important factor is in my unease over the case of Madeleine McCann.

What is it, I am pressed, that makes me so uncomfortable about their demeanour, their behaviour and their actions? Why, in the absence of any conclusive or irrefutable evidence, should I so be critical of them?

It is this one, single solitary factor..........

In early August, 2007, a Child Therapist saw a young girl of whom she stated that she was “100% sure”, was Madeleine McCann, in a restaurant in the town of Tongerin near the Dutch border.

Of course, there had been many “sightings” of Madeleine since her disappearance. It is not unusual to receive such witness sightings in a missing person case, and it would be ridiculous, counter-productive and, indeed, inadvisable to pursue every apparent sighting.

But this was different.

This was a RELIABLE, sound, lucid witness of a high professional standing, giving a detailed, credible and accurate witness testimony.

It was considered important enough by the authorities to seal off the entire area, create several APB's and road-blocks for Madeleine and her apparent 'captors', and to dispatch a specialist Forensics team to the location. There, they procured a GLASS, believed to have been used and drunk out of by ‘Madeleine’, in order to undertake in-depth DNA and fingerprint analysis.

I have spoken to many people, mainly parents, about their opinions on this particular instance.

ALL were unanimous in their conclusions.

That had THEY received such credible, likely and STRONG evidence that their missing daughter had been seen, then nothing, but NOTHING would have stopped them from IMMEDIATELY going to that location, no matter HOW remote.

In actual fact, it was a mere couple of hours flight away from Praia de Luz.

The McCanns, instead, chose to drive to HUELVA, in Spain, to “hand out leaflets”, even though it was a BANK Holiday and barely no-one was around..............................

For me, the only possible explanation as to why they DIDN’T rush to that little Belgium town, where the eyes of the whole WORLD were concentrated, awaiting some news that the little girl might be safe and sound................................was because they KNEW it couldn’t be Madeleine.

So I shall be READING the McCann book with great interest, as I am sure, will a LOT of other people. I have a LOT of questions that I need answering. A lot of obfuscation that perhaps their book can make clear.

Of course, the McCanns and their supporters might argue that given the enormous amount of heartbreak, pressure and pain that they have suffered, not to mention the length of time that has elapsed since Madeleine’s disappearance; it won’t be easy recalling everything that has passed.

For me, I prefer to concur with an old adage once penned by Mark Twain:-

That if you tell the TRUTH, you don’t have to remember...............

The McCanns Chief SUSPECT: Now let's FIND him!

Kate and Gerry McCann are said to be “delighted” at the huge support for their petition calling for a review of the case into their “missing” daughter.

Additionally, the Portuguese Authorities are said to be considering re-opening their investigations.

HOWEVER, given the predilection of the McCann’s, their PR ‘persona-non-grata’ Clarence Mitchell, together with their friends, lackeys and supporters for INSISTING that any investigation is to concentrate SOLELY on the factors that THEY want concentrating on; PLUS of course, the PJ’s inability to be anything other than the “bungling Porto plod”; I thought it important that the investigators should be reminded and refreshed regarding the CHIEF SUSPECT whom they should be seeking.

By way of guidance to this suspect, I feel it only fair and appropriate to “concentrate”, solely on the ONLY witness whom Team McCann and the British Media elect to believe and trust.

EXPRESS Newspapers Versus the McCanns. Richard Desmond's Halloween Prank

Can it be that Richard, "Dirty" Desmond, (Proprietor of the Express Newspapers), is playing a bit of a late Halloween prank on Kate and Gerry McCann?

How else to explain this morning's Sunday Express story, "Madeleine McCann: Did the Camera Hold Vital Clue?"

Of course, ostensibly, to the uninitiated, it rather reads like the "Disgraced Porto Plod", (Goncalo Amaral), is apologising for his department apparently having WIPED a CCTV tape which may have shown Madeleine's "abductor".

Of course, this would be quite normal fayre for the British Media, given their predilections when reporting on this case; to sympathise with the poor parents and to remind everyone just how useless the Portuguese are.

Except.

A name.

Martin Smith.

For Martin Smith, apparently, witnessed someone carrying a child on the night of Madeleine's disappearance. The most interesting aspect of his STATEMENT, made to the Portuguese Authorities however, came some time after the sighting.

"Reported that he passed a male carrying a child in Praia da Luz the night Maddie went missing. Went and made a statement to Portugal police in Portimao on 26th of May and returned to the U.K. Is saying that after seeing McCANNS on the news on 9th of September when they returned to the U.K. He has not slept and is worried sick. He states he was watching the 10 pm news on BBC and saw the McCANNS getting off the plane and coming down the steps. He states it was like watching an action replay of the night he saw the male carrying the child back in Portugal. He states the way Gerry was carrying his twin triggered something in his head. It was exactly the same way and look of the other male seen the night Maddy went missing. He also watched ITV news and SKY news and inferred it looked like the same person both times carrying the children"

Now, Mr. Amaral made direct reference to this in his Book, " Maddie - A Verdade da Mentira" - 'The Truth of the Lie" a book which the McCanns were originally successful in BANNING, until recently where the Lisbon Appeal Court overturned that ruling.

What we have to consider is whether or not Goncalo would have omitted to share Mr. Smith's assertions with the JOURNALIST, James Murray, in the EXPRESS story.

EXTREMELY unlikely, unless Mr. Amaral now wishes to detract that part from his book.

More SALIENTLY, I am sure that the Journo is MORE than conversant with Goncalo's book, and almost CERTAINLY aware of who Martin Smith is and what he purports to have seen.

So what is going on???

I have already BLOGGED about how Richard Desmond, perhaps the most vociferous and aggressive man in the Media world, meekly apologised and ended up forking out well over a MILLION to the McCanns and their Tapas friends in an "out of Court" Libel settlement, for doing no more than what every other periodical and newspaper had done already, which was to reprint the stories appearing in the Portuguese Media.

I have also alluded to the fact that I considered such payments to be made by way of "favours", due to certain Government friends of Richard's.

HOWEVER, this new twist is CATEGORICALLY guaranteed to set the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons!! Sure to replicate the excrement hitting the fan and open up that infamous can or worms!!

FORGET that a few seconds checking with the name Martin Smith/Madeleine McCann on GOOGLE will result in stories certain to turn Clarence Mitchell several shades of grey, but I can not possibly SEE how ANY of the mainstream media can allude to this story, and the name of Martin Smith, without reference to his apparent belief:

That the man he saw carrying Madeleine McCann was ...........

GERALD McCann.

As the EXPRESS points out, Mr Amaral concludes that any new investigation should fully consider the statement of Mr Smith.:

“I hope this is seriously examined because it is an important aspect of the case,” he said.

Richard. You naughty boy.

Trick or Treat, anyone?

Goncalo Amaral has announced that he intends to market his book, on which the Lisbon Courts lifted a BAN recently, in the UK.

His book, ‘"Maddie - A Verdade da Mentira" - 'The Truth of the Lie", is an account of the investigation over which he presided, in the hunt for the missing girl, Madeleine McCann.

Despite the books obvious popularity, especially in Mr. Amaral’s home Country PORTUGAL,( as well as many other Countries), after a successful, contrived Court action by the McCanns, it was eventually banned in September 2009.

I, (along with many others, I am sure), wish Mr. Amaral all the luck in the world.

Sadly, however, he is going to NEED it........................

For I truly believe that this book, along with copies of the DVD Documentary which was based on the book, will NOT see the light of day here in the UK.

For if they DID, they would produce a rather unique and untenable set of circumstances, for publishers, the MEDIA, for the very laws of Libel and for the ESTABLISHMENT itself that has resolutely thus far sought to protect the McCanns at every turn.

For if we cast our minds back to MARCH of 2008, we find that the EXPRESS NEWSPAPERS dared to repeat what Goncola Amaral and the Portuguese Media had suggested: That Kate & Gerry McCann were involved in the disappearance of their daughter.

For daring to do so, it cost them £550,000 paid to the McCanns in an “out of Court settlement”(not to mention Court costs which would have been at LEAST equal to this amount).

They THEN paid a further £375,000 to the ‘Tapas 7’ for repeating SIMILAR allegations, which in turn they nicely ALSO donated to the McCanns. (SORRY, the “Find Madeleine” fund).

For those who do not KNOW anything about the owner of the Express newspaper group, they may perhaps suspect nothing untoward in this apparent climb down and substantial payment by the Newspapers the ‘Daily Express’, ‘Sunday Express’, ‘Daily Star’ and ‘Sunday Star’.

For those who DO know "Dirty Des", however, this course of action simply beggared belief!

I have never met Express Newspapers Proprietor, Richard Desmond. I know many that have and feel confident I know SOME things about him.

I know that he is extremely forthright and has a notorious temper.

His well known ‘party piece’ is an impersonation of Adolf Hitler singing a chorus of "Deutschland über Alles"

He is alleged to have once locked a senior Executive in a cupboard. He denies throwing a chair at the head of one of his own senior executives but admits, "I pushed the chair."

He also denies that he once ordered an executive to stand on the boardroom table, pull his trousers down and call himself a "cunt" because he was late for a meeting.

There are certainly many who have had dealings with him, who attest to having been on the receiving end of just that foulest of expletives.

He has accumulated quite a wealth, partly due to his publication of soft-Porn titles, starting with Penthouse. It was the beginning of a magazine empire that went on to include such salacious names as Asian Babes, Readers' Wives and Big Ones to name but a few.

Although he has since SOLD these titles, he still runs his own soft-core Pornography channel on Satellite/Cable TV, as well as now owning the ‘Channel 5’ TV channel.

He greatly enjoys his reputation of being a man who takes no prisoners, of behaving like an underworld gangster.

According to ‘Private Eye’, just within this past week, in a meeting with executives with ‘Endemol’, designed to negotiate a deal to screen the now defunct ‘Big Brother’ Reality show, he offered them a “pittance” for permission to screen it on Channel 5.

He violently smashed his glass down on the table and called them “Fucking Wankers” when they refused his offer. (Funnily enough, exactly the same terms he used on Executives when trying to negotiate a purchase of the ‘Telegraph’ newspaper some years ago).

As the Eye pointed out, he notoriously exhibits “tight-fistedness” and “foul-mouthed thuggery”.

You get the picture?

Now try and align these traits and characteristics with someone who, without a single Court appearance, threw up his hands, took out his wallet and coughed up well over a MILLION Sterling for doing no more, (and in some cases, much LESS), than what many other Newspapers, magazines and media outlets had ALSO already done, which was to merely report on the allegations that were emanating out of Portugal.

I once commented, ACCURATELY I surmised, (although perhaps tastelessly), that the only way Richard Desmond would willingly part with money to the McCanns was if he were successful in persuading KATE to appear nude in one of his less than salubrious magazines!.

How can it possibly BE, that this fearless GIANT of the Media World, a man who by his own admission likes to challenge the very borders of “acceptability”, not only parted with what was for HIM, an unprecedented amount of money, but also published FRONT PAGE APOLOGIES on all publications, a move described by the Media commentator Roy Greenslade as "unprecedented".

("I think this is an amazing stand-down, a U-turn, by the Express newspapers,") he said.)??

Like so much with the case of Madeleine McCann, perhaps we shall never know. I am certainly in no position to suggest the reasons, and like so much with anything to do with the McCanns and their missing daughter, hard EVIDENCE is a bit thin on the ground.

But there ARE a few pointers, and a few issues which bother me.

When Desmond first announced his intention to acquire the Express Newspapers group, he was ridiculed and lambasted from all sides, his critics asserting that he would never pass a “fit and proper person” test to make such an acquisition.

According to the ‘INDEPENDENT’ (amongst other newspapers), in 2000, within “minutes” of walking into the Express headquarters, Desmond received a call inviting him for a chat with Tony Blair.

Mr. Blair's Labour critics believed and commented that the meeting produced a promise that the Government would not block the acquisition.

Sure enough, in February 2001, the then trade and industry secretary, Stephen Byers, announced that he would not block the Desmond deal.

Richard Desmond promptly gave the Labour Party a £100,000 donation.

Perhaps more importantly for New Labour, Desmond, (an obviously blatant Capitalist), suddenly declared himself a ‘Socialist’, and faithfully printed Blair and Brown propaganda in his newspapers.

I guess that’s the way business and politics work.

But it has always confounded and perplexed me as to WHY, the most resilient, independent, vociferous, FEARLESS publisher, a man who has frequently been referred to as an ‘OUTSIDER’ and as a man who apparently cows down to NO-ONE, should so quietly, almost reverently, bow down under very little, if ANY tangible pressure.

For example, when Desmond was seeking to acquire a LONDON Evening Newspaper, he announced that he would call it the ‘Evening Mail’. This was a big JOKE, on Desmond’s part.

He famously LOATHES the Daily newspaper the Daily Mail, and his declaration of the intended title was merely a prank, a 'wind-up', purely designed to irritate the Daily Mail group.

It worked spectacularly. It was inevitable that Associated Newspapers, owners of the Daily Mail, would object to such a flagrant misappropriation of their trade name.

They issued a writ and TOOK DESMOND TO COURT to prevent him from using that name.

Even though it was a Joke, and no such title, (or indeed nightly NEWSPAPER), would ever have existed, Desmond went to Court and FOUGHT the case!!.

He lost, but thought the case worth it, if only to cause angst and grief for his enemies.

Because that’s exactly the kind of guy he is.

In its front page apologies to the McCanns, the Express Newspapers wrote:-

"A number of articles in the newspaper have suggested that the couple caused the death of their missing daughter Madeleine and then covered it up. We acknowledge that there is no evidence whatsoever to support this theory and that Kate and Gerry are completely innocent of any involvement in their daughter's disappearance."

About as Clarence Mitchell-esque as one could get. (No doubt Clarenece got to actually write it himself).

But as I pointed out in a previous Blogging, the basic, fool-proof, cast-iron defence in a Libel or other Defamation case, is where the assertions being made are TRUE.

And if the UK is to allow the publication of Goncalo’s book, based on the LISBON Court findings who,( as well as re-establishing Amaral’s right to freedom of speech), declared that as the book was based on Police records, it was essentially a TRUE account!!; then where does that leave Richard Desmond?

Surely, if Amaral’s book can be deemed to be an accurate and TRUE account, then not only is Desmond free to RE-PUBLISH his assertions and accusations relating to the McCanns, copied from the Portuguese Press, but he could technically SUE the McCanns and the Tapas group for his MONEY BACK, based on them PERJURING themselves, could he not?

After all, the News of the World are clearly rubbing their hands in expectation over Tommy Sherridan and his wife, who have GONE ON TRIAL over allegations that they LIED in their £200,000 LIBEL Victory over the Newspaper a few years ago.

However, as much as I would relish such a prospect as seeing Clarence Mitchell make pleading noises with the public for donations to help out Kate and Gerry in their legal plight, it’s never going to happen.

Because underneath all this murky subterfuge, staged propaganda and fabricated garbage put out by the so called ‘Media’, lays an unknown secret.

Or perhaps SEVERAL secrets.........

As I have been wont to say on many occasions, we may NEVER know what happened in Praia de Luz in May 2007.

But what we DO know, surely without question, is that since that fateful night when a little girl was reported missing, Madeleine McCanns parents, (who were subsequently made criminal SUSPECTS in the case), have enjoyed privileges, freedoms, rights, advantages, treatments and PROTECTIONS afforded by the British Authorities, its POLICE, its Celebrity Culture, its Press and Media and, most tellingly, its Politicians and GOVERNMENT.

And to completely usurp that state of affairs with the TRUTH, just because of a decision made by those “bungling Porto Judges” in Lisbon, would be a truth too far. Perhaps for too many people.

I’m sure that Richard Desmond is cursing the McCanns as ‘C***s’, (under his breath of course), as I write.........................

Madeleine McCann:- The Sun, the Moon and the TRUTH.....by SPUDGUN

I am moved to respond to the many friends, (and some foes!), regarding my post relating to the lifting of the ban on the book by "Disgraced Maddie Cop", Goncola Amaral, by the Lisbon Courts of Appeal.

My response is to the many posters, supporters and well wishers who share a unified determination that Madeleine McCann shall have a judicious retribution and atonement for what they believe to be the cessation of her short life. It is essential that YOU maintain your resolve not to let this case be forgotten, (although given the McCanns predilection for publicity and litigation, it currently shows no sign of going away just yet).

This case is so much more than a tale of a missing girl, tragic enough in itself as that is. This is a very intricate and interwoven cornucopia of lies, deception and subterfuge, seemingly extending, (to a degree at least), to the very echelons of British Government.

That a Government and its Media are willing to manipulate, engineer and propagate a certain line has far reaching and very grave consequences for EVERY Democratic establishment in the World, and it is truly beyond all logical reason why that manipulation is taking place, but it IS inarguable that it is.

Conversely, it is equally essential that we ALL maintain focus and commitment to establishing the TRUTH.

Sadly, none of us know exactly what happened in Praia de Luz that night, and as interesting, fascinating and entertaining as it can be to discuss, argue or suppose the chain of events, it serves NO-ONE to deliberate them.

Discussing the merits of Gerry's involvement with Knights Templar or Operation Ore, or the sexual peccadilloes of the Tapas group, or theories about body disposal, Masonic rites, body language experts, voice analysis experts etc....... does absolutely NOTHING except to safely compartmentalise us all EXACTLY where the McCanns and their supporters, (ESPECIALLY the PRESS), WANT us:- in the moronic corridors of those internet forums that provide so much angst and purpose for Clarence Mitchell, and so much material for his Media lackeys.

No. Our weapons of choice HAVE to be the truth. The pen is mightier than the sword ONLY when its words are razor sharp with the blades of truth. And the truth really IS, out there.

Had people taken it upon themselves to do but just a MODICUM of research back in 2003, when Tony Blair’s plagiarised dissertation on Iraq’s weapons and military capabilities was been presented to the British public as FACTUAL ANALYSIS; it would have meant that the population would have REALISED LONG BEFORE we invaded Iraq, that we were being taken into war on a LIE!. The truth was clearly there to see long before the Americans and their allies rolled into Kuwait to prepare for the Massacre, (sorry, 'War on Terror').

Had anyone ever bothered to grasp the REAL significance of the fact that the American company HALLIBURTON’S was to take control of the production and movement of the OIL coming out of Iraq when the invasion first took place, then I would suggest the REAL reason for that war would have been blindingly obvious to even the most gullible. (The big clue was always in the NAME of HALLIBURTON’S former Chairman and still major shareholder DICK CHENEY.

Name ring any bells?)

But of course, most people never bothered to look beyond their cornflake bowl and the abusive headlines levelled at the Portuguese, much preferring to keep tabs on who was winning the ‘X – Factor’ or ‘Big Brother’.

As I have stated previously, Herman Goering once said:-

“It's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy”

Goering understood the power of the Media and the ease with which people would believe what they were told. What he never knew, however, was that one day the INTERNET would come along and provide the population with the means of ascertaining what the REST of the world thought.

For, (thanks to the Internet), it is abundantly obvious that the rest of the World has rather differing views on the Madeleine McCann case than does most of BRITAIN.

That is NOT because the British people are uniquely different, but rather because it is densely populated with people who are accustomed to being indoctrinated by its newspapers, its Media broadcasts and its 'Celebrity' non-entities, on whose every word it too often relies.

In fact, the very people to whom Goering was referring when pointing out the ease with which they could be “brought to the bidding of the leaders”.

But there IS a WEALTH of TRUTH already out there. Irrefutable and inarguable FACTS, that ensures that there are questions to be ASKED.

Questions about specialist dogs who say that the McCanns, their clothes, their apartment and their hire car had traces of CADAVERINE and/or blood.

Questions about one of the world’s foremost Forensic Specialist Services, (Birmingham FSS), initially reporting a 100% DNA Match to Madeleine on some of the samples that it tested.

On why key detectives from Leicestershire Police concluded that Madeleine died in the apartment.

On why every single one of the McCanns AND their ‘Tapas’ friends’ initial statements and assertions ALL contradict each other.

On why Jane Tanner purports to have seen an abductor, for whom she has given THREE different descriptions, in THREE different interviews and statements.

On why the statements and declarations made by the McCanns and their Tapas friends regarding their movements and actions do not stand up to scrutiny and logic.

And on why, amongst ALL the HUNDREDS of potential witnesses in Praia da Luz, Jane Tanner, Fiona Payne, Rachel Oldfield and Russell O’Brien were the ONLY people who allege to have seen Robert Murat outside Madeleine’s window on the night of her disappearance, allegations that were eventually DISMISSED by the Portuguese authorities.

And the most compelling and important question of all?

Why NO-ONE in the British Media has so far dared to ask ANY of the questions above?.

(Of course, on a personal level, I’d ALSO love to know why the Express Newspapers paid the McCanns AND the Tapas members HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF POUNDS in LIBEL payments, after reprinting allegations made in the Portuguese Press, allegations based on the PJ FILES!! Doesn’t Richard Desmond KNOW that the simple and inarguable defence to Libel is when the allegations are, in fact, TRUE!! After all, just this week, the Lisbon Courts declared what many already knew. That the main thrust of Amaral’s book is based on FACTS!!)

As the popular, unattributed adage goes, “The ability to ask questions is the greatest resource in learning the truth”.

Personally, I prefer the words of Confucius:-

THREE things cannot forever be hidden. The Sun, the Moon.........................

Madeleine McCann the TRUTH of the Truth of the Lie...by SPUDGUN

I have absolutely no idea what the significance will be of the Portuguese Court of Appeal overturning the ban on Goncalo Amaral’s book, “The Truth of the Lie”, a ban successfully effected by court action brought by the ever litigious Kate and Gerry McCann.

Then again, I never understood how or why the Injunction was granted in the FIRST place. After all, Amaral’s book was effectively no more than a synopsis of some of the key investigation points carried out by the Portuguese Authorities, information which was, (and still is), already in the public domain.

In my own country, (here in the UK), there is currently NO news of the lifting of the ban. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the BRITISH media to report the matter, and then even more interesting to see which newspaper first chalks it up as a scandalous victory for the “disgraced former Maddie Cop”.

For herein lies the rub. Ostensibly, this little procedure in a Portuguese Court is fairly inconsequential in relation to the material that was the subject of the ban in the first place. For the book was, and still is, freely available online, in many languages.

But it is a HUGE victory, (not just for Amaral who was ALSO facing the consequences of losing his HOME to another action been brought by the McCanns), but for the Portuguese authorities, the Police, their press, and most of all, their PEOPLE.

Whatever happened to Madeleine McCann in May of 2007 may forever be a mystery. Whatever crimes took place may never be solved. But the crimes that have since been perpetrated against PORTUGAL, the country with whom the UK has held one of the longest alliances in the World, must not only be solved, but atoned for. Not least, the crimes perpetrated against it by its own Government, or at least factions of it.

Rumours of political skulduggery and interference have been circulating in Portugal pretty much since Madeleine was first reported missing. Key decisions, both in the case itself and on how it was conducted, can be traced back to direct interference from UK Government Ministers, including the then Premier, (and fellow former Glaswegian), Gordon Brown. Reports of spooks, British Intelligence, and senior Special Branch officer’s presence and involvement have been recorded in the Portuguese press since the early days of the enquiry.

Even Portuguese judges dealing with the investigation and court proceedings in the early stages would appear to have acted completely out of character and seemingly against the legal Statutes, procedures and practises that govern them, (especially where Kate and Gerry McCann were allowed to flee Portugal, 72 Hours after having asserted they would never leave Portugal without their daughter, and a mere 48 hours after being made Arguidos).

Such BRITISH influence and involvement can NOT have occurred without the complicity, (and DUPLICITY), of at least some senior Portuguese Office.

Whatever deal was struck, I hope the Office thinks it was worth it.

It would not be the first time, of course, that a Nation has been let down by its Government. However, such occasions generally benefit from a judicious, fearless, accurate and observant PRESS, bringing to the attention to the rest of the world the injustice and deceit that is ensuing. If the Portuguese had hoped that their oldest allies, the BRITISH, would use their Press to highlight their cause, then they were about to be disappointed.

I have recorded elsewhere the catalogue of journals, newspapers, television documentaries, news programmes, British Government Ministers, ‘B’ list Celebrities, Gossip Columnists and bulletins that have all not only perpetrated and propagated the ABDUCTION story, but have ridiculed, abused and vilified the Portuguese people in the process.

“Up Yours, Senor”, “Useless Porto Plod” and “keep your stupid, sardine munching mouth shut”, were just some of the more fragrant lines written by the UK’s finest scribes.

“Pigs” and “Filth”, were how one Tabloid luminary described the Portuguese Police.

“Bumpkins” was how he referred to the Portuguese people of the area where Madeleine went missing. Presumably he meant those who took time off from their work places and normal lives to search the ground, for HOURS, on their hands on knees, looking for clues as to the little girl’s whereabouts.

Just in case there was any doubts as to the integrity or calibre of the Portuguese people, Piers Merchant, assistant to Member of the European Parliament Roger Knapmann, clarified the situation regarding the British perspective on our oldest ally.

In November 2007, I wrote a letter to the former leader and Home Secretary of the UK Conservative Party, Michael Howard. In the letter, I explained that I was concerned that conflict and potentially irreparable damage was being caused between the two countries concerned, Britain and Portugal, much of which appears to have been caused by the Press and Government of this country. I further questioned the use of the British Government Media Monitoring Unit Director, Clarence Mitchell, as not only a spokesman but as an apparent MENTOR of sorts; resigning from his Government job and allying himself with the McCann's when they were made Arguidos. I suggested this to be somewhat an unprecedented and unusual state of affairs.

I also explained my concerns that Gordon Brown had not only personally intervened in the case by persuading the Portuguese authorities to permit the McCann's to make an appeal for information concerning the 'abductor', as 'witnessed' by Jane Tanner, (even though the Portuguese placed NO significance or, more likely, credibility in this sighting'), but that some factions of the credible Portuguese Press were suggesting that Government Pressure was being brought to bear on the case.

Certainly, I considered it inappropriate and unusual for Gordon Brown to have made the personal communications and offered the assistance that he did to the McCann's.

Clarence Mitchell himself had already confirmed that he, via the Prime Minister, had been instrumental in not only co-ordinating the visit to the Vatican, but also visits to other world leaders and dignitaries. My letter concluded that I felt it essential that the Prime Minister clarified his position and involvement with regards to the McCann's case.

The response I received was a standard, if not unexpected one, advising me that the letter would be forwarded to the Prime Minister for his comments, which would be communicated to me if and when he made them. (He never did).

I published my original letter on an Internet Forum, inviting any like minded individuals to either use it as a template or to modify it for their own purposes and forward it to their own local, Members of Parliament. A lady from Bristol did just that, and the response that it elicited made headline news, both here and in Portugal.

Piers Merchant wrote an astonishing and lengthy response that firstly warned the author to be 'careful' of what she writes, referring to the laws of Libel. It then went on to state, somewhat pompously, that

'‘One of the first duties of the British government is to support its citizens abroad. It is therefore entirely correct that the government should do this in the case of Kate and Gerry McCann".

He then sensationally declared,

'The Portuguese police and judicial system is known to be suspect. Elements of the police are corrupt and indeed in this case the senior detective involved has been charged with corruption? "

He continues;

''The Portuguese judicial system does not assume innocence before guilt in the way the British system does and operates an interrogatory process in which people are denounced as suspects without any proof?."

Merchant explains why this shocking state of affairs is so:

"It is important to realise that Portugal has no real history of citizen's rights and liberties or democracy. From the 1920s to the mid 1970's Portugal was ruled by a fascist dictatorship, first under Salazar and then Caetano. Political opposition was repressed and the police and judicial system was used to achieve this. A stable multi-party democracy only came into existence in the late 1970's and is still very young. Many of the police were trained under fascism and the institutions still bear the impact of this long period of dictatorship".

The letter concludes by stating,

''In all the circumstances it is entirely right that British citizens should be protected against an unreliable foreign system. In any event I think you can rest assured that the British police and intelligence services have long had a better grip on the facts of this case than the Portuguese police".

Merchant later tried to deny that he had written this, protesting that his letter had been ‘altered’. However, I STILL have the original source file, and can assert that it is entirely as it was created. Additionally, he refused an invitation to submit his WEB based email system to cursory examination.

Some three years after this particular response, I am still intrigued as to how much of that inexplicable retort was Merchant’s own work, and whether he genuinely wrote it of his own volition.

Piers Merchant died, in September 2009, taking the answers with him.

So today, Tuesday the 19th October, 2010, IS a victor for Portugal.

It is a victory for the Policia Judiciaria, who conducted themselves throughout with professionalism and determination, despite the horrendous, abusive labels and accusations of incompetence, (completely unfounded), which still plague them to this day. Their ‘crime’?. To assert that Madeleine McCann is dead and that her parents are at least complicit in her disappearance. Presumably for reasons of space, the same newspapers were unable to repeat and reserve the same criticisms for the BRITISH factions who shared that self-same opinion:-

a/The Leicestershire Police Constabulary who, (according to PJ files), were instrumental in proposing that Maddie had died at the apartment. Clearly they saw no point, either, in lambasting:

b/ the specialist South Yorkshire Police ‘enhanced victim recovery dogs’, Eddie & Keela, instrumental in solving DOZENS of cases across 17 Police Forces across the UK, who signalled the scent of Cadavarine and other body fluids, in the McCanns apartment and in a vehicle hired by the McCanns, as well as on other personal items belonging to the McCanns.

c/So too, the Birmingham Forensic Science Services, (who have built a “global reputation for excellence in forensic solutions”), who, according to many sources, including SKY NEWS, reported that DNA extracted from a sample taken from the McCanns Hire Car was a “100% MATCH” to Madeleine McCann.

For whatever reasons, these 3 facets of the investigation, the Leicestershire Police, The specialist dogs and the Birmingham FSS results all made obvious significant contributions to the Portuguese Authorities conclusions regarding the case, yet they have thus far avoided the same derogatory attention afforded to them.

BUT most of all, it is a VICTORY for the Portuguese PEOPLE. Those who gave their time, energy, money, resources and heartfelt support, love and wishes to a “nice” British couple in their quest to find their missing daughter. Those whose lives were blighted, (and some who still ARE), and turned upside down by a tidal wave of media vileness , together with a Government who abandoned them and stood by while this character assassination on a NATIONAL level unfolded.

It is for THEM, that this little bit of Court decision making will go a little way towards restoring their faith in the Democracy, spirit and traditional values of their homeland.

As for the McCanns themselves? Who knows? It may well be that they will manage to overturn, yet again this current state of affairs. No doubt they will embark on ANOTHER course of legal action, certainly against Amaral and possibly someone else as well as, no doubt, several Newspapers, Media Outlets or anyone else who repeats the Books' words.

Some might suggest that they will NEED to.

For they have spent MILLIONS of pounds in donations, pledges and personal backing, in convincing the world that Madeleine McCann was abducted; Either by one of several infamous characters as described by Jane Tanner, or by one of the MANY bizarre, colourful and ludicrous suspects that inhabit various corners of the globe as reported widely in the British Press, (courtesy of the McCanns own private police force, Metodo 3 and Clarence Mitchell).

Or by one of the many faceless, nameless and shameless paedophiles that apparently walk the streets of every Portuguese village, (courtesy of a seemingly innumerable number of High Ranking British ‘EX’ Police Officers/Experts, some of which have financially benefited quite nicely from the McCann Gravy Train) .

And that kind of "LOOKING FOR MADDIE" doesn’t come cheap.

But, as has always been the case in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, there are more QUESTIONS than answers. And as I have been wont to say on more than one occasion, unless those questions are firstly ASKED, they can never be answered.

And today, in a Court room in Lisbon, at least the asking has started again...................
